With all this talk of a rift here’s a nice montage of PC, Wills and Harry from 2014

We have a holiday home in the
U.K. timeshare

I have a bag of stuff just for there. Cooking, toiletries all packed & checked at the end of each trip.

DPs have a holiday home & they have everything they need there. Clothes, toiletries. DM has a few favourites that are doubles of what she has at home. They go there regularly.

Princess Diana’s first job as a nanny

IdaBWells · 27/11/2018 07:04

AhoyDelBoy great post! They are two lovely young men who seem to be very close to their dad. They always seem very protective of him.

IdaBWells · 27/11/2018 07:14

Curly when the whole story with PC broke and Diana was working at the nursery, she said later that a lot of people didn't realize she only worked there three days a week and the other two she was caring for a little American boy called Patrick.

I have also seen an interview with Patrick's mum who said when Diana came and told her in confidence she was dating a Prince she assumed it was Andrew because they were closer in age and was very surprised that it was Charles!

When C & D went to Washington D.C. to meet Reagan on the trip when she danced with John Travolta, Diana asked to meet Patrick and his family who had moved back to the USA and they were brought in especially.

It sounds like the American family were always very discreet.

This photo came up on my twitter feed. I had read something a few days ago that the Duchesses deliberately dressed similarly ( burgundy outfits; sleek ponytails) so that the focus was on the Hubb project and not on Meghan’s pregnancy. ( which incidentally has not really been mentioned of late)
Suggests cooperation between the Duchesses and definitely not a rift.

@IdaBWells Mary Robertson appears to have been very fond of Diana.
I have also read a version of that story that the Coutts cheque appeared under the sofa because Diana had been “told off” by her employer for eating all the chunks of meat in the stew for that night’s dinner and it was Diana’s way of asserting who she was.
It was obviously an early sign of her Bulimia.

I can well believe that the one sole year she had in London, with her flat mates, working with children and anonymity probably was the best year of her life. Diana was in the public eye for her entire adult life, and had no preparation whatsoever for Royal life. She truly was a lamb to the slaughter.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 27/11/2018 07:33

Interesting though if Diana’s issues with bulimia started before she was royal. Would mean it wasn’t pressures of being royal that started it off.

I love these threads! I don't think I knew who Maxima was previously. I think she's now my hero. She wears the blue dress with pizazz Smile. She clearly loves fashion

Spudlet · 27/11/2018 07:40

ADB I read years ago that the DoC uses hot flannels (Although no idea on what brand she uses with them. I'm guessing an expensive one?!)

Slightly embarrassed to say that on the basis of this, I started using flannels too Blush I think it has helped my skin though!

Liveinfive · 27/11/2018 07:48

I don’t suppose we will ever know what skincare regime they has as I can’t see them ever talking about that kind of thing. Although perhaps Meghan did in her life before (although I think a lot of the time when celebs say they swear by something it’s because they’re being paid by the brand to say so)

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/11/2018 07:50

@Spudlet I don't think it's the flannel that matters so much as the cleanser you use with it. I bought a konjac sponge in France a few years ago and have never looked back!

Bagshot is huge. Far too big for a family of four to be rattling around in.
I wonder what it's like inside.
Is Anmer as big ?
Is it new or old ?

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/11/2018 07:56

@CurlyWurlyTwirly It's ridiculous isn't it, how young Diana was? I know age gap marriages were common in the aristocracy but this was the 80s! If William had suddenly got engaged to an 18yo duke's daughter then he'd have been pilloried - the Mail would've wrung it's hands, the Guardian would have several columns about it being reflective of the patriarchy etc etc. The Sun probably wouldn't care unless there were bikini shots of her!

I am loving Maxima's fashion, especially this week stunning dress. Queen of fairies can we see your dress in pink please?

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/11/2018 08:13

What did the press nickname Andrew and Fergie's house? It wasn't v flattering IIRC.

GrumbleBumble · 27/11/2018 08:24

South York

Butterymuffin · 27/11/2018 08:24

SouthYork, in line with Southfork.

WipsGlitter · 27/11/2018 08:26

I think Amner is pretty big and has a pool and a tennis court. amner

ajandjjmum · 27/11/2018 08:35

Southyork - always was compared to a new Tesco store on one of the retail parks.

BlingLoving · 27/11/2018 08:51

@spudlet, I use an oil cleanser with a flannel and it has changed my life. I never liked proper face washes as my skin is on the dry side, but as I got older, the milk cleansers I used to use just never quite worked and left my skin feeling unloved. the hot flannel/oil cleanser has been a revelation. And due to current cash flow crisis, I'm not even using a fancy expensive one - just the Simple one that my favourite beauty journalist recommended in an article!

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 27/11/2018 09:03

I mix my own oils for hot cleansing - at the moment I'm using a 1:5 ratio of pomegranate oil to sweet almond. It's loads cheaper than buying a product and you can try different combos to match your skin.
