Im a naturally dark brunette and am just starting to get a few greys, wherever i put my parting theres just 1 or 2 there. I'll try to explain what im thinking as best as i can...
Im thinking of having a 1/2 head amount of foils but spread out over the full head doing the whole length. Then for the next appointment because the highlights will be so randomly spread It would be near impossible to pick the same hairs again to do the roots so was thinking they could just pick hairs at random but just fo the roots leaving the lengths.
My plan is that it will be subtle colour, minimal hair damage and not too expensive.
Would this work?
I've booked a colour consultation but the hairdresser sounding confused by my idea on the phone. Any hairdressers got any opinions on this?

I dont know if hairdressers still do this, but when i first started with highlights i had what they used to call frosting, which was the top layers highlighted so didnt go right down to the roots and looked lovely and was easy to do again, but obviously makes it more highlighted gradually,

I did similar for about 18 months.

Trouble was the highlights didn’t always hit the grey roots, well the hairs were actually white and against the dark brunette it still stood out.

Other thing was as my hair got gradually lighter, it didn’t seem like me any more. I’m quite pale, so there’s a high contrast between my skin and hair. When I lost that, I just didn’t look like myself anymore.

So now I just use a natural semi-permanent in a slightly lighter brown to blend in greys and it gives a very subtle lowlights look. .
