It's lovely!

puppymouse · 20/11/2018 14:03

I wouldn't rock up to a work night out in that, personally, unless it's black tie? But you might get away with it if you tend to wear long dresses a lot or maybe wear some jewelled flats hippy stylee Smile

If it's a formal dinner/ball in a fancy venue then yes.

If it's drinks in a bar in town, definitely not.

tissuesosoft · 20/11/2018 14:05

It depends where it is. Rounds of drinks and pub food in the local Spoons- too dressy. But a sit down meal/hired venue type event then yes

Cerseilannisterinthesnow · 20/11/2018 14:14

It’s a dinner and dance in a mid range hotel in the nearest city?

Last year I wore a navy mid length pencil dress and the top half was sequin/glitter wrap over

Yes, go for it! If you have long hair I’d wear it down rather than an up-do to make the whole look a bit less formal.

Ta77Blonde · 20/11/2018 14:17

Go for it. Why wait until others make an effort, I always dress my best.

Cerseilannisterinthesnow · 20/11/2018 14:18

I’ve got shoulder length hair, have already got an appointment with my hairdresser so will show her a photo and let her advise what to do with my hair

Yep. You'll look great.

HildaZelda · 20/11/2018 16:56

It's lovely, but it's a black tie dress really. I think you'd be a bit overdressed in it.

Muddytoes1 · 20/11/2018 16:59

It looks gorgeous! I always go ridiculously over dressed at Christmas but I don’t care as I love sequins and big skirts. Even if it’s just at the pub. Who cares what everyone else is wearing if you love it!

GhostCurry · 20/11/2018 17:02

“It's lovely, but it's a black tie dress really. I think you'd be a bit overdressed in it.”

Not sure about that. It depends what it’s made of. The overlay makes me think it’s quite lightweight - OP, unless it’s a silk chiffon number that cost you £500, I’d go for it too.

RatherBeRiding · 20/11/2018 17:13

Dinner dance in a hotel - yes. It's Christmas. It's a "do" - definitely an occasion for dressing up a bit.

tierraJ · 20/11/2018 19:22

I work in a hospital & we have Christmas dinner & disco nights in hotels for our parties.

Everyone dresses up in sparkly cocktail dresses or long dresses & gets their hair styled etc, that dress would fit right in at one of our parties.

HappyGoodHairBear · 20/11/2018 19:44

You’lllook wonderful in that.

EdWinchester · 20/11/2018 19:46

Far too overdressed imo.

Cerseilannisterinthesnow · 20/11/2018 20:02

It’s £22 on boohoo Grin I’m nhs staff don’t get paid enough for £500 dresses! Grin

I do like to get dressed up at the Christmas night out as I spend all year at work in my uniform!

“It’s £22 on boohoo grin I’m nhs staff don’t get paid enough for £500 dresses!”

Well exactly, it’s £22, a gorgeous shape and looks flattering and you’ll feel great.
If it were a really expensive item you might look overdressed because the fabric would be overly luxurious if you know what I mean. But this dress is perfect - sparkly, elegant but you won’t be devastated if someone spills some prosecco on the skirt.

Goingonandonandon · 20/11/2018 21:21

off to boohoo website now...

it really looks great, I'd say go for it!!
