Jumpers for 'older' ladies. Please help!

My lovely MIL basically lives in the garden or on the allotment, so dresses practically but 'femininely'. Always, wears a skirt (even in the garden and the allotment!) but wears a certain style of sweatshirt.

I have only found the style I want on ebay (see pic) which is lovely, I'm guessing embroidered on a machine at home, but I would rather get her a proper brand.

I have tried online at all the usual places, bon marché, M&S etc but can't find anything. And googling 'embroidered floral sweatshirt' only brings up the likes of asos etc.

If anyone has any ideas of where I can look I'd be eternally grateful!

Does it have to have the embroidery, or is the type of pattern that is the main draw? Cotton traders have quite a nice floral patterned sweatshirt in at the moment. Also do a variation with birds on, that is nicer than it sounds.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 18/11/2018 18:45

Ah, I see you have made embroidered one of the search terms, so maybe not.

dontticklethetoad · 18/11/2018 18:45

Hi Spongebob. I have seen those, I don't think she'd go for an all over print.

Fairy nuff. I have firmer ideas about what I like as I get older, so I get that Grin

NotMeNoNo · 18/11/2018 18:49

Joules? Lands end, cotton traders possible too

hugoagogo · 18/11/2018 18:51

Laura Ashley?

dontticklethetoad · 18/11/2018 18:53

hugoagogo thank you, but she doesn't wear anything all over print. The types she wears are more or less exactly like the picture.

NotMeNoNo tried all of them.

I'm just going to have to sneak in when they're out and rifle through her drawers.

Not exactly what you are looking for, but some nice floral tops for older ladies in Edinburgh Woolen Mill. Might be worth a look.

Expensive but so pretty. You could also try Cath Kidston as they have clothing with embroidery, not just prints and applique.

Take a look at (online). My elderly mum buys loads from them. She loves them and I hate them as I buy online for her then get bombarded with catalogues etc. 😡

dontticklethetoad · 18/11/2018 19:01

Oooh that Jack wills one is lovely. Just wish it was cheaper! I will keep it in mind as its the closest to my spec Grin

Whoops would help if I put in the name of the company! It’s Damart. They cater for the more mature taste 😄

RebelWitchFace · 18/11/2018 19:04

Maybe pop into Next anyways in case they have more stuff?

dontticklethetoad · 18/11/2018 19:08

Damart has a contender! Thanks icequeen01 Smile

Could they be from somewhere like the national trust?

Icequeen01 · 18/11/2018 19:14

Glad I could help. Damart is my mum’s “go to” for her comfy clothing. It’s really cheap too and I have to say the quality has been pretty good.

OP, which Damart one are you fancying? I did look at a couple, but thought there was too much pattern for your remit. Also, you realise that if you go through your mil's drawers, shell start a thread about you... Grin
