Underwear for Velvet Dress

Is velvet unforgiving? Can I get away as a lumpy size 14 with decent shape wear or am I kidding myself?

Depends on the actual dress imo.

Anything skater style or with ruching to front would be fine. I'm a 12 and have a few velvet dresses like my first pic. Actually very flattering and comfy.

Anything bodycon in style would be more likely to show lumps and bumps. I have the dress in the second pic and can only wear it when I'm at my absolute fighting weight (i.e. definitely not right now 😲).

Think you can get spanx style thongs if you're worried about vpl?

Of course you can wear velvet! It's one of the most forgiving fabrics of all in my opinion. A good control bodysuit, open fronted for your own bra, and you'll look smoking hot!

I bought this dress. I do have a flat (ish) tummy, but definite wobbly thighs and arse and this dress is the most flattering one I've ever worn. I bloody love it! Good solid underwear though.

It's definitely emerald green though, not teal!

I buy the magicwear bum tum and thigh tights in natural to wear with some dresses. They're so supporting and shaping and I find them a bit more comfortable than some of my support underwear!

@ChateauneufduTwat where is the dress in the 1st pic from?! I love it! OP have also been dreaming about a velvet bodycon type dress for Xmas for a couple of years now but pregnancy and now post-baby chub have got in the way but if it is forgiving with the right undergarments on I'd be willing to give it a go!
