Please help me with new work outfits

I'm starting a new job, and due to having children I haven't really worked in a few years, and when I did I was pregnant and wearing maternity clothes. So I've only just realised I don't really have anything to wear that fits me and is going to make me feel good.

I'm really looking forward to putting on a nice knitted dress, tights and boots, some makeup and heading out to work. But I need some help getting a few outfits. Anyone like to offer some inspiration? I'm browsing the Boden site at the moment.

Pinterest is a great place to start, just search on work outfits. I have a board dedicated to work outfit inspiration.

Well done on your new job!

What's the sort of look you're going for, or feel comfortable in ? I work in a company where we have a lot of visitors and events, but also where I'm stuck a lot in front of the computer, and there's no dress code. So, I veer from wearing 3/4 trousers, jumper, leather jacket and ankle boots to suits. My go-to suit is a navy blue pinstripe one that I bought a few years ago from Mango. It looks much more expensive than it was (Mango outlet). It's a bit loud - I look like a 1930s mobster ! - but it's so comfortable and I jazz it up with red ankle boots and chunky jewellery and feel ready to go for the rest of the day.

If you prefer dresses there's some lovely ones around at the moment, Asos is a good place to look. I recently bought a lovely retro-look dress from Topvintage, I think the brand is "King Louie". I haven't worn a dress in years, but I love it.

Congrats on your new job!
Can you give us some ideas of what type you are, e.g understated , classic, edgey, etc
What size are you? Pear shape?
Opis the work office based? Work with adults or young people? In a creative or traditional industry?
The range is inmense but to gauge you I am sending you a couple of things

Top and trousers from Cos

Another idea would be going to John Lewis and booking at stylist, I think they do not charge?

Thanks, I'll take a look at these. I would like a few dresses or skirts and tops. I've lived in jeans pretty much and would like a change. Something cosy and comfortable and smart is probably what I'm looking for. Not really dressy like a suit, but smart. I'd probably say I have quite simple tastes, I don't usually go for anything frilly or loud etc. I'm thinking a couple of nice just above the knee length dresses with a 3/4 sleeve or something along those lines.
