Coated skinnies and shoes

This is my 3rd try at posting this!

I bought some h and m coated skinnies today thinking I would wear then on the plane for a short flight into the UK tomorrow. I'm now doubting myself and wondering what to wear on my feet and if indeed I am too old and non-edgy to wear them at all.

They seem quite wrinkled on the legs even if I bend them up a bit but I plan to be comfortable and casual and wear them with a white vest and grey denim shirt from Mango. I'm not sure weather to go with Chelsea boots or silver ballet flats or something else.

I'm also picking my teenager up from boarding school and am keen not to shame him too much by looking like Dorian out of Birds of a Feather!

I get round the 'too old' bit by wearing trainers with a lot of things that some more edgy people might wear heels with (skinny jeans/dresses)... I don't know if that helps...

I keep trying to post pics but the app won't let me for some reason

I'd say definitely not ballet flats..sneakers or boots.

OlafLovesAnna · 14/11/2018 15:21

Hmm... I only have pink Superga trainers or a grubby pair of NB running shoes.

Chelsea boots I reckon, but then again I'm a "boots with everything" sort of gal Grin

Roobub · 14/11/2018 15:32

I think pink supergas would look good. I wear mine with skinnies or leggings all the time.

OlafLovesAnna · 14/11/2018 15:48

Hopefully pics have posted!

I wear coated skinnies all the time but with a variety of DMs
I’m 43
I would normally say wear with boots but those silver flats look super cute with yours

halfwitpicker · 14/11/2018 15:53

OK so they're coated skinnies

I wondered what they looked like

peachypetite · 14/11/2018 15:54

Sorry OP I think they are unflattering. They look too tight with all that pulling across the back of your legs

OlafLovesAnna · 14/11/2018 16:08

Peachy - I am an epic 5'2 so I have to pull them right up to get them 'flat'. A bit too sausage effect maybe on the legs?

I'm trying to break out of a jeans rut but am not good at it. I also bought navy 7/8 trousers in Zara and black trousers in Mango but am struggling to look 'put together but not too dressed up'.

All saints leather jacket, white cam and navy 7/8s for plane then? Problem in its 20 degrees here and I have forgotten how to dress for CD and damp!

They don't look sausagey at all OP. They are maybe just a tad too long which is why they are scrunching up a bit at the back.
I think they look nice with the ballet flats. I'd wear them with trainers personally.

FuzzBallMushroomP · 14/11/2018 17:55

They look like they're wrinkling because they're too long. Maybe pull them down at the ankle, turn up and shove in to boots.
It's what I have to do with skinnies if I want them smooth.

Mammatron · 14/11/2018 19:31

Trainers or boots, not ballet flats. If wearing with the boots, I'd turn them up a bit to flash a bit of skin and break up the leathers

nancybelle · 14/11/2018 21:03

I bought these and they arrived yesterday but I’m chubby and my legs look like rolls of black pudding in them. They might be passable for me with heels but you look fine and the silver shows look great.

evilharpy · 14/11/2018 21:05

I wear mine with chelsea boots mostly. Sometimes with trainers.

GhostCurry · 14/11/2018 21:12

I would get rid of the ballet flats now tbh, they (in general, not your specific pair) look dated now.

OlafLovesAnna · 14/11/2018 21:49

Thanks all, I struggle with shoes in general tbh, unless it's sandals I never feel I get it quite right.

What would you buy if you were buying new boots and shoes for autumn/winter? To go with jeans, and black or navy slim trousers and skirt/tights?

Biologifemini · 14/11/2018 22:33

Dress them right down with trainers and a jumper.
Avoid leather jackets and pointy courts at all costs.
They look good and are wipe clean so perfect for travelling with kids!
