Hi, jumping on the bandwagon, just seeking opinions on skirt lengths!

Im late 30s and regularly wear knee length or blazer with matching dresses from next when i need to be formal.

Im feeling frumpy beside the ladies in early 30s who wear those tight stretch jersey skirts which are pretty short and the cord mini skirts - these ladies are all 5ft 5 and under

I'm unusually tall at 5ft 9 but appreciate this isn't exceptional but if i wore a very short skirt, would i stand out a mile?

Feeling that brave would be a good move but i feel like big bird from sesame street!!

I really fancy a burgundy or rust cord pinafore with a polo neck!!!

Have them been let down so the proportions are better.

That should have read 'have the hem let down'. You can usually get at least an inch if you ask an alterations place to do a false hem.

I am 5'9/5'10, most mini skirts look far too short on me, perhaps try get one from the fall section so it's not half way up your bum (like they are on me). I don't wear skirts often right enough.

You are not unusually tall. You are not too tall, you're the height you are and if you want to wear miniskirts then do so. I wear skirts that are well above the knee and I'm nearly 50.
I recently had a colleague who was taller than 6 ft and she often wore miniskirts and looked great in them.

Black opaques under them and you're sorted.

Also their length varies depending on where you buy them. Usually online they put the length on the description. Topshop tend to be shorter than other places for example.

Think it's just because it's outside your comfort zone that you're worrying about it. Get one to try on. Sounds like a great outfit to me.

I’m 5 10” and I wear minis with black tights. Go for it!
You could also look at the tall section in places like Topshop where the length is a bit longer.

I’m 5’10” and look better in a pencil skirt than a mini skirt. My legs look too long.

Try New look or Dorothy Perkins for tall clothes. ASOS also has a tall collection.
