Sheer or Opaque tights for a night out?

What does everyone wear on their legs for a night out, when wearing dresses/skirts?
I have a nice black skirt i want to wear, but cant decide if thick or sheer tights look best!

In this weather I go with whatever is warmest! I wore a skirt out at the weekend which was black with a colourful pattern - I wore 100 denier tights - which I suppose would count as opaque - with shoe boots.

True, i do like to be warm!!

I have never been able to wear sheer ones as an adultConfusedConfusedConfused
Maybe because I grew up in the 80s.

Maybe sheer is the wrong word, i mean thinner ones?!

I think thinner tights are out of fashion a bit at the moment - blame Kate Middleton.

Summer bare legs and winter thicker tights is the general rule I'd personally stick to

I do usually wear thick ones, although i still manage to get holes in them!😂😂

Sally Hansen spray. I just feel underdressed for a night out with thick black tights.

I don’t like fully opaque unless dressed cosily. I wear 40 or at most 60 denier. I think it look dressier and less like leggings. But there is no wrong or unfashionable at the moment.

So more like this rather than fully opaque

For the same reason as Hope I can't wear sheer, they look like a very specific Lady Di moment to me, but I guess every generation has their version of that.

I agree that sheer is very dated-looking unless you can subvert it.
So I’d go mega thick (the kind that are more like leggings) since it you’re going to go opaque you might as well be warm, or bare legged. Use wash-off tan as above.
