goats she was talking about the press just before so I assume she just meant that, although it came across as a comment on a trait, so maybe she thinks he's controlling in every respect. She said on the tour the photocalls were incredibly tightly controlled; previously the press would have had a lot more freedom, but now they have specific instructions on where to stand, they're not allowed to talk to the royals etc. (this was quite a striking difference in the documentaries and I'd forgotten how common it was to do a 5 minute mini interview, say on the ski slopes or such like). Then there were documentaries following William and Harry on their gap years etc. in exchange for being left alone. There is nothing like that now in relation to tours. In Australia W&K were snapped holding hands and Kate was snapped bouncing a baby George on her knee. The British press were under pressure not to publish the pictures, but the Australian press did. At first K&W were said to be fuming about the photos being taken, but then they realised there was nothing they could do about it so changed tack and said they had no problem with it. I'd never seen the photos before. As PPs have said on this thread, it is clear that the RF need the press to a certain extent, to maintain public interest etc, but times have changed a lot. I cannot imagine William letting the press have any access to his children.
