Buying boots with a bunion

I've been looking everywhere for knee high boots (yes, I know not considered trendy on MN!) with only a very small heel. Found just one suitable pair in my city and they are in Next. I'm a 5, but the 5 really squeezes on my bunion, same for the wide fit. The 6 are more comfortable, but is obviously too big in other ways. Do you think it would work to buy the size 6 and put insoles in? I can't take the risk that the leather wouldn't soften around my bunion in the 5.

Leather stretching spray across the toes works for me .

Mercurial123 · 11/11/2018 14:28

I wouldn't. Leather stretching spray has never worked for me. I put insoles in and wear thicker socks.

SpeckledyHen · 11/11/2018 14:32

I have used the spray for years and it works every time :)

I have the vile things on both feet thanks to inflammatory arthritis. I always buy a bugger size and put insoles in. I bought a small heeled pair of boots recently and the pressure it put on my big toe joints was hideous.

Bigger size ffs, why does my iPad insist on changing my words.

Duo boots are very good.

M and S stretchy fabric always work for me. Leather always too inflexible.

Gwenhwyfar · 11/11/2018 20:50

M&S only had boots with heels.
I don't know what Duo boots are, but I will only buy something I've been able to try on in the shop anyway. I don't do online.
I'll have to look into that spray thing.

OP. Duo boots are a brand. (They did go through a phase of calling themselves Ted and Muffy but went back to Duo). They have a shop in Bath.

Gwenhwyfar · 12/11/2018 20:00

Thanks Fluffli. Bath is not impossible to get to for me, but not close either.
