Using this. Varnish not budging. Wrapping nail in soaked cotton wool and tin foil and waiting. This is my third attempt. What am I doing wrong?

Does it contain acetone? Have you buffed the nails first with a file to let the remover penetrate into the gel?

I've got that stuff to and I have to say it's pretty rubbish. You need to leave it on for about 20 mins for it to work and then really scrape it off! Did you buff your nails first? I've found doing this speeds the process up a bit. (Try Boots' own nailvarnish remover (the pink one) with 100% acetone. Doesn't help you for now, sorry!)

Where did you get your nails done?

Roobub · 11/11/2018 16:50

Pure acetone works much better. Can get it for a few quid on amazon. Use a nail oil after to rehydrate a bit though. As PP said really buff the surface first so it can penetrate.

You need to gently file the top coat off first, this then makes it easier to soak. You really need pure acetone.
If not you can file the gel off your nails completely but you need to be gentle to avoid filing your actual nail when you get down to it. I sometimes do this when I don't want to use acetone.
Ive trained in gel nails if this helps.

.....also it can help to add very light heat so wrap nails in foil and then wrap your hands in a towel to keep the warmth in.

I’m a beauty therapist. You need pure acetone, buff the top coat off of the gel and wrap. Gel should just blister off.

Thanks for the advice. I didn’t buff initially but I did the second and third times. Finally got the stuff off eventually!
