How should I cut my hair?

I have thick, wavy hair which needs cutting (ends a bit damaged). At the moment it is all one length. I find that it ends up flat on top when all one length but looks weird in pony tails, plaits etc. if I have it layered. I can’t seem to win. Am I missing something?

Can you get the stylist to take out some of the weight without giving you layers?

@lockedout the problem is that it ends up being a weird shape when I put it up if it isn’t all the same length iyswim? How does taking weight out without layers work?

How long is it at the moment?

Racecardriver · 10/11/2018 20:11

@countfosco a bit below the shoulder, about 10cm bellow my collar bones.

It’s unbrushed (sorry about that) but here is a picture for illustrative purposes. As you can see it’s quite flat on top

I think your hair is beautiful as it is. Maybe just chop about 3 inches (about the width of a credit card) it'll make it look a lot more thicker and ask the hairdresser about extra volume but I let my hair towel dry about 70% then put a volumising mouse in at blow dry upside down

Your hair looks lovely! Try to side part way to one side, creating volume on top.

I'd get it cut to just below your shoulders and embrace your Kate Middleton - blast it upside down to dry to create volume, straighteners through it to smooth and lightly curl the ends.
