What shall I wear to a fancy drinks party?

I want something lovely that will also keep me warm. I just have no idea. Desperate for suggestions.

Long sleeved dress, opaque tights, heels

Definitely want a dress but I'm tall so don't wear heels. Have you seen ant nice dresses?
