Boots for straight black full length work trousers- help please!

Hello all, really need some help!
I need a pair of boots to wear with black, straight full-length work trousers next week- think Gap true straight. I'm looking for something to give me a bit of extra height (but not too high).
I've no good at styling boots and trousers- eg have so many pairs of really gorgeous ankle boots that I've never work as I can't style them... help

Can't do links properly so shall describe what I mean instead...
I think if you are wearing trousers with boots you have to make sure the trousers are long so they sit properly, otherwise they do a frumpy ankle flapping thing. Something with a stilleto heel and pointier toe looks better (To my mind!) than rounded toes or clunky heels - even if the trousers sit properly it looks a bit 90s.
