I’m looking for a flattering, comfortable black trousers for going back to work after maternity leave. My body is different now and I’m fine with that, just need some new clothes!

want something I can wear with ankle boots and that will go with anything, not too skinny, but well fitting.

Would be very grateful to anyone who has any suggestions!

Asda George black bootcut trousers.
Look no further, and only £6.

Uniqlo Ezy ankle length trousers. They come in a big range of fabrics and patterns, they're elastic waist (!!), machine washable and tumble dry, they're £25. I live in them!

They look very short and a little baggy on the models on the website but for hourglass shaped me at 5'6" and a size 12 the M is a perfect fit and hits just above the ankle so I can wear heels, flats or ankle boots without rolling them up.

Sainsburys. Loads of shapes to choose from. Around the £12 - £15 mark. Wash and dry well too.

I'm afraid I haven't much help to offer. I think you have to be choosy with the fabric, some black is awful. Gap used to be my go-to, but I don't like them anymore. They might be worth a look for you.
I'm also placemarking Blush

I have my eye on some Theory ones, but a) I need to get to try them on and b) they are expensive. But cost per wear, possibly better option than a cheaper pair.

I love the Zara high waisted black trousers. They are really comfy, look smart with ankle boots and a shirt tucked in. Not too skinny (I am a curvy 12-14) but flattering. They also don't fade in the wash and keep their shape all day.

I have four pairs! The oldest must be 3 years old now and washed at least once a month but is almost as good as new.

Don't be put off by the 'skinny' I do not have the legs to carry off skinny jeans but these are v flattering.

Asda boot cut are fantastic. They are flattering, wash well and last year's. Plus they're only £6!

I only wish that the Asda trousers came in some different colours, as I would buy more,eg navy or grey.
Wearing them for work (HCP) puts me off wearing the same colour on days off, as they just feel like a uniform to me: I might crack and buy an extra pair for downtime, as it's rare for me to find trousers that are comfortable but smart, and which go with anything.
