So I'm between a size 14 and 16 trousers and bought some size 16 today from Primary and OMG I can't even get them over my bum put me in a mad dash to get some more as I need them for work in the morning so I went to my local Asda got a size 16 and they fit but a bit tight round the bum I'm hoping they hold for tomorrow till I can find some more, what shops should I try that are true to size, thanks

I don’t think any shops are true to size, try on and buy what fits regardless of size on label. Why didn’t you buy the 18 in Asda if the 16 are too tight?

BikeRunSki · 08/11/2018 21:23

I’m not sure there is standard sizing anymore. I’d say I am also between a 14-16, but I have some UK12 trousers that are loose, and recently sent back some 18s which didn’t come past my knees.

I didn't buy the 18 as I honestly didn't think I'd need that size I got the 16s and came straight home tried them on and by which time my dp had gone to bed to be up at 4 for work

I'm sorry but Asda tends to come up big, are you sure of your sizing?

keepingbees · 08/11/2018 22:56

I was also going to say Asda tend to come up big. Their size 12s are generous on me and I'm normally a 14.
I'm pretty good at visually checking the size of clothes now rather than the label. I have clothes from a 12 to a 18/20, even stuff from the same shop can vary massively it's crazy.

moolady1977 · 08/11/2018 23:06

I have jeans from Asda which are a 16 and are roomy I could have fit in the 14 so thought yeah a 16 will be lovely and roomy, oh well ill just hope they last tomorrow and then go searching for some that fit

A good way of navigating round sizing issues is to ignore the labels. Instead, make sure you know your own measurements and the measurements of trousers that fit you, and carry a tape measure when you go shopping.
