Has anyone else had a bad experience with this site? I have bought 2 items in the last 6 weeks, neither of which has turned up. The first sale was cancelled and refunded after a month, the second looks like it's going to be the same, but they won't refund until a month has passed.

So frustrating, there are lovely things on the site. You buy and pay, then the seller sends to VC HQ, then they send it on to you. In my case neither item arrived at HQ and I cant communicate directly with the seller. Why put your things up for sale if you're not actually going to sell them Hmm

I won't be using them again and wouldn't recommend it, ebay is much more straightforward.

I’m selling on there right now and have had a very good experience. Apart from people not paying. Which means I can’t accept any other offers until that agreement has timed out.

They’ve just recently switched to DHL courier collections, (currently awaiting a courier right now). There was an option to drop off, postage paid, at the post office, so I’d guess something’s gone wrong too often with that chain of delivery.

I’m afraid I’ve used them too with mixed results. The first time I bought a belt which arrived quickly and in perfect condition.

The second time, more recently, I ordered a pair of leopard print shoes for an event and they never turned up, eventually many weeks later got a refund. Will not be using them again unless the item is ready to ship.

That's interesting, thanks.

In the first case, a bag, when VC contacted the seller after waiting a month they said the item was no longer for sale. It would have been helpful if they had said that when I paid.

The second item has not yet arrived with VC after 2 weeks, but from what you've said maybe that's a logistical issue, not the sellers fault.

I wonder why there is a delay with buyers paying? I had to pay immediately I order to buy the item.

Linwin I agree wouldn't consider it again unless ithe item is ready to ship which seems to mean the item is already with VC.

It's just too annoying to wait 1 month to see whether the item may or may not turn up

Plus VC have my money in their account for a month, before refunding it. I know interest rates are not what they were, but most VC transactions are well over £100, multiply that by hundreds/thousands of transactions per month/year and they are certainly benefiting from the situation

personally tried to sell something but was horrible experience. Got tens of offers, which once I accepted I couldn't accept any other for 24 hrs, but the buyer would never follow through so it was a huge waste of time.

and a coworker bought a prada coat, which ended up being a fake.

MissTeriName · 08/11/2018 10:29

The offers thing is so annoying. I receive loads of ridiculously low offers which I either decline or negotiate. Then if I accept, they don’t pay. I think they’re just trying it on to see what I’ll drop to and come back a week or so later. I also think a lot of resellers bid in the hope I don’t know the value. But I’ll never sell with eBay, far too many rip off merchants and I’ve been burned there before.

Weirdly, I had two bags sell at full listed price this week after being online and getting low ball offers for months. Not complaining! But I’ll be happier once the money is in my bank. It always feels a risk but I’m more comfortable with DHL courier than the post office.

I've had both good and bad experiences as a buyer. I bought a skirt once that never turned up and had the whole waiting for a month palaver to get refunded. Now I look at the seller more carefully. Good sellers who respond to questions swiftly and post their items fast can earn a 'trusted profile' i.e. a gold banner by their photo. Also, if you look at the item details, you can see when it was first listed. If something was listed many months ago, I always leave a comment for the seller asking if it is still for sale. Sometimes you never get an answer, which tells you everything you need to know! I think VC would work better if they had a ratings system like eBay. As for the fakes, I have heard a few horror stories so I would not personally buy designer items like Chanel, Louis Vuitton etc as some fakes are very hard to spot.

I've also had good and bad experiences.Several items that I've wanted for years I've found on Vestiaire, at a great price- but a couple of purchases have never arrived, I've always been refunded without argument- but still frustrating,

as previous poster said if something has been on their a while or they already have unanswered questions then I will ask a question. No response then I don’t proceed, I think sometimes sellers have items across multiple sites & forget about listings.
