How do you clean removeable retainers?

We have just been given these by hospital orthodontist but no advice on how to clean them - they are smelly after 2 days. There is no opportunty to go back to hospital to ask this now. A friend suggested retainer brite. It looks like it is supposed to be cleaned in a special container with a special brush? Please can someone tell me if they use retainer brite or similar and recommend a container and brush? Thanks very much.

Soak in Retainer Bright then brush with a small soft toothbrush (toddlers ones are good for this) and rinse. They should be cleaned every day becuase of bacterial build up. If you haven't got Retainer Bright, just brush with a blob of toothpaste.

I use denture tablets for mine. I keep them in a little plastic box and pop a tablet and a bit of water in there after I've worn them.

Steradent tablets in a cup overnight!

Antibacterial handwash and water as soon as you take them out, and dry them well to prevent mould.

Don’t use toothpaste - it starts to build up in the retainer. Regular hand soap with a toothbrush is fine. Steradent/retainerbrite once a week.
