Nice gym top if you are overweight

Where do you get your gym stuff from if you are overweight?

I've got leggings & running tights but I want a couple of nice tops that are suitable for working out in but that also provide a bit of cover (stomach, hips, bum) if possible.

I've just looked on Yours, Simply Be and Evans and none have a sportswear section Angry

Matalan soulexe range goes up to a size 20 and has longer, slouchy tops.

Eliza9917 · 06/11/2018 13:06

Thanks, those are better than most but not what I'm looking for. I want a longer t-shirt, but not a huge baggy oversize one. I want it still fitted a little bit and I want it to end a few inches below my fat arse. I don't want to run on the treadmill with visible bits wobbling all over the place.

I found mine in tk maxx. Sadly they are some obscure brand so I only have the 3 tops which I wash and wear repeatedly.

FlyingMonkeys · 06/11/2018 13:10

Sainsburys TU do decent sportswear in bigger sizes. Prices are good too.

PeridotCricket · 06/11/2018 13:12

Found a decent longish black top in M and S....but it's not on their website...

Eliza9917 · 06/11/2018 13:15

I was wrong! Simply be do have a sports section, its in the tabs across the top not in the lists when you hover on clothing.

I just found these.

You don't say what size you are but, I like the stuff from Decathlon, I buy XL and am a generous 16. They don't do larger than that that I can see. I have the "Kalenji" brand stuff but they do a big range. You can order online and return easily.

dementedpixie · 06/11/2018 13:23

Curvissa has branded stuff in larger sizes. I like the kangaroos ones as they are a bit more fitted without being clingy

Hunlife · 06/11/2018 13:24

F&F at Tesco do great gymwear up to big sizes.

Eliza9917 · 06/11/2018 13:25

I'm an 18, but probably get a 20 so there's room and it's not skin tight.

Second Tesco, Matalan and Decathlon.

FlyingMonkeys · 06/11/2018 13:29

JDWilliams do up to size 32. They've some nice double layer tops that hold everything in but flatter with the loose over top. It won't let me post pic

BumpInTheOven · 06/11/2018 13:29

Sports direct... Basket ball tops... really baggy but with wicking material...

AnneWiddecombesHandbag · 06/11/2018 13:30

Next have some nice gym T-shirts. I have a few of them. I'm size 18 and don't feel self conscious in them

BusterTheBulldog · 06/11/2018 13:30

Morrison’s also do good gym wear.

PetraDelphiki · 06/11/2018 13:31

M&s do some nice double layer tops...

GraceMarks · 06/11/2018 16:09

Asda have good gym stuff that goes up to about a 24 I think. But I think you shouldn't concern yourself about what your arse looks like when you're on the treadmill! Unless you go to some awful place where it's just full of muscle blokes grunting about with the free weights in front of a mirror, nobody is concerned with other people's bodies, they're just there to do their thing.

Eliza9917 · 06/11/2018 16:23

I know, but I still feel a bit self conscious, once I've been going for a bit I'll get over it.

M&S do surprisingly decent sportswear/gym gear although they have a nasty tendency of covering everything in really frumpy prints. I tend to keep an eye on their website and when a plain black (wicking material) top appears, I buy 2. They seem to sell out pretty quickly. I wish they would figure out that their plain black tops sell out so fast because people don't like their dodgy printed ones!!

I've gone from size 20 to size 16 (and continuing downwards) and found M&S a godsend for gym tops that cover the fat rolls but aren't complete shapeless sacks. Just watch out for the rancid prints!

Magicstar1 · 06/11/2018 17:32

Yours do have gym gear. I got these leggings and tops and they’re fantastic...and I’m sure I’m bigger than you Wink

ASOS have all the major brands in one place, with a variety of budgets. That's where I get mine from.

Eliza9917 · 07/11/2018 09:19

Thanks I'll have another look today at all these.
