Flower clips in hair?

This reminds me of the song by Scott McKenzie, San Francisco Grin

I'm getting on for middle aged, have always had long hair but cut it off in a cathartic cut the past out of my hair type way. I like it a lot but I've taken to wearing a flower clip to keep one side pinned back. My boyfriend is bewildered by this and says he's never seen anyone wear a flower in their hair before (they're only velvet or faux silk).

I had a woman say today how much she loved it.

It's not that unusual or inappropriate though, is it?

Nope. I love wearing all kinds of clips and flowers in my hair and I'm middle aged. Your boyfriend needs to broaden his horizons - maybe suggest taking your next holiday in Hawaii or Tahiti Grin.

Flower clips are very ten years ago (sorry). Your boyfriend is probably shocked by it as it is quite unusual now.

OP, take a look at the current season Simone Rocha collection for amazing crystal flower clips that look perfect worn in pairs. I adore mine.

I think they can look beautiful, and practical too! by helping hold a hairstyle in place.

It's fine!

Maybe, but a flower behind the ear is the sort of look that is always charming and pretty.
