Ned cruise in March

We will be going on a Med cruise with MSC in March, boarding at Barcelona and stopping at Marseille, Genoa, Rome, Palermo and Valletta

I’ve never been on a cruise before. But more than that, I find it hard to picture how the weather will be in any of those places in March. I always fear being cold and tend to overdress rather than underdress so I guess layers are the way to go. But should I be bringing things like shorts, just in case?

What kind of jacket should I bring? What would you pack at that time of year?

Also have a 4 year old and 13 month old to pack for.
Am beyond excited about this holiday but just have no idea how to pack for it (am aware it’s ages away but don’t live near any cities so if I need to get things I’d like to be organised)

My goodness, I was going to start a thread about this very thing except my sailing is earlier than yours.

I live in a hot climate and have no idea how to dress for the cooler weather. I do know to go for layering but my problem is what kind of coat or jacket as well.

I’ve spent time in the Med and I’ve also done another Med Cruise but it was in the autumn and still nice weather. I think it would be cold for shorts in March.

I think plan for cool, showery weather in March, it’s still very early in the season. I’m further south in the Algarve and March can be very unpredictable

Hi PollyFlinderz!

Hmmm yes, I guess that thought about the shorts was a bit optimistic! What month are you going? Is it to the Med as well? I guess I could bring a fleece, and some sort of waterproof packamac thing instead of bringing a jacket that does everything. Really don’t know what to bring and none of the packing lists I’ve googled are for March

Op, I’m doing the same cruise as you but earlier in the year.

Have you had a look at the Cruise Critic website? You can usually get most questions answered there.

I like that jacket and I’m thinking of something like it but to also cover my bottom as I don’t want to get a chill.

You can also get a waterproof jacket like that one that comes with a detachable fleece liner for warmer days.

I had one from North Face a few years ago
