Am I too old for vans?

I mean be honest. I'm 42, would Nike or new balance be more appropriate?

Oh Gawd, I'm the same age and I bought Vans this summer. I felt very cool..until I stood next to a maybe 14 year old in the shopping centre and realised I was very EXACTLY the same outfit as her in vans,skinny jeans and even the same type of top.
She laughed and said -twinnies!

They also make my feet look freakishly tiny. Almost look like I'm about to topple over with my huge non teen boobs.

No way you're not too old. If you like them get them & wear them.

If you go for a simple design I think they're totally fine.

Also - I think a pair of Vans is more stylish that a mumsy pair of Sketchers or similar.

Sorry if that sounds harsh but you did say, be honest. And I am exasperated by this idea that a nondecript item of clothing suddenly becomes off limits because a teenager decides they like it.

Vans have been around since... when? the 70s? 60s? They're probably older than you are, op. I don't really believe in classics, but if I did, they would be right up there on my list.

I have no objection to young people wearing our clothes but it does not render them cutting edge.

All the women I consider especially attractive are late 30s plus.

People should be able to wear what they want, at any age (provided all the necessary areas are covered).
I have been wearing vans, jeans and a hoody since I was a teenager though, so probably not the best to avoid. I should probably update my look one day!

I know that older people wear the converse and I rarely see young people in them but the vans seem to be more of a teenager thing. I'll wear them proudly
