Knee High Boots

I'm in two minds about whether or not knee high boots are "in fashion" this year - what do others think? LOADS of ankle / sock boots around...but little choice in knee highs (unless they are over knee and skin tight a la puss in boots).

I'm after a new pair to wear with work dresses...but really struggling to find a fashionable classic style (maybe that's an oxymoron though!)

Zara have some nice ones on their website.

Oh for sure it’s a winter staple.
And warm too!!
Do you notice how it’s always the same trends in the winter.
Sequins black tartan purples greens reds.
This year the snakeskin is in I’m getting ankle boots but il be wearing them next year whether they are in or not

TipseyTorvey · 04/11/2018 08:11

I'm really hoping they are. I've got three pairs from duo that I love but haven't worn for a couple of years as they've felt unfashionable.

TheVeryThing · 04/11/2018 08:15

They are definitely in, especially with midi length dresses and skirts. I think ankle boots look better with shorter skirts but as always, wear what you like & makes you feel good.

FashionFiend · 04/11/2018 08:16

I think ankle boots are still considered more fashionable than knee highs unless the knee highs are slouchy.

woodhill · 04/11/2018 08:18

Why not where the knee boots if they are comfortable and you feel good in them. Personally, I think knee boots are more flattering than ankle boots.

woodhill · 04/11/2018 08:19

Sorry I'm using speech option and I know how to spell wear

teta · 04/11/2018 08:43

No, knee high boots are definitely big this year. Though I think we’ve all got so used to wearing the ankle variety I think a slight change in clothing is required. No more slouchy joggers with longer boots. I don’t think the slouchy boots look good on anyone but very tall slim models. But has this style really hit the high street yet? I’ve just dug out my long boots - 4 pairs of Duo boots 2 over the knee, 2 knee ones. They’re all cobwebbey and need a good polish but i’m really looking forward to wearing them.

I’ve had my black old faithful dune knee boots on a couple of times, with skinnies or sweater dresses, they are very plain so go with most things
I’m lusting after some Dune ankle boots too, but hoping for a discount code between now and Xmas

Boredofthecommute · 04/11/2018 09:07

I bought some new ones as I had slouchy suede ones last year and wanted a leather pair. Found it a struggle to find some that sat where I wanted them but randomaly found a “classic style” (in my view!) in River Island of all places.

Not sure how to do clicky links but bought these www.riverisland.com/p/black-knee-high-leather-block-heel-boots-713490?sem=1&cmpid=PLA&istCompanyId=28d3cba5-6749-43eb-904c-61b8cc01cf80&istItemId=-wxpxaiqtrx&istBid=tztx&gclid=EAIaIQobChMImqPz8rC63gIVDLDtCh1PfwBwEAQYBCABEgIeKfD_BwE

I think style wise you have to go back to skinny jeans for knee highs but I've now got really used to a slouchy style with bare ankles and trainers. How is everyone else going to wear theirs?

sizzledrizz · 04/11/2018 09:40

I saw someone wearing some with a leather knee length skirt last night. They looked good.

HLBug · 04/11/2018 10:12

Zara and duo...will have a look at both of those and the others suggested. I'm too short to pull off the slouchy look - and I'm really not a fan of the over knee ones either - how do you sit at a desk all day in those?!

Two of my duo Otk have either a big elastic panel or are slouchy. My tan ones I’ve had for 7 years and Reheeled numerous times, but are now a bit distressed. But apparently due to slouchiness are now in trend. The third pair in black leather are a bit uncomfortable but look good. I think with Duo you buy your precise calf width rather than a standard fitting so they should be comfy.

TipseyTorvey · 04/11/2018 10:39

I think Duo is Ted and Muffy now and a bit more expensive unfortunately but the boots are lovely.

beanaseireann · 04/11/2018 10:46

Knee high boots have been in since Regency times.
They never go out of fashion.
Like coats
and trousers
and dresses
and shirts
and socks.

SpeckledyHen · 04/11/2018 11:14

My mission to get some knee high boots took me to Duo in Bath but they were too tall for my short legs - 5’ 2” tall . Great around the calf due to their great sizing choices.

Thankfully now back to being Duo .

I ended up with a Clark’s pair which aren’t perfect but best of the numerous pairs I tried .

I liked Gabor Brook but wanted a higher heel .
