Blackheads on 8 yo's nose

Up till now DD has only washed her face with water and muslin cloth. When I noticed the first blackhead I asked her to use a bit of soap on her nose in the evenings. Now there is another one coming up.
I think we need to incorporate a face wash - but she's 8 Confused - I don't want to put any crap on her face. On the other hand I'd rather keep the blackheads under control - I only properly got rid of them in my 30's!

I use salicylic acid - very gentle but not convinced Paula's choice is the go to product for 8 yo! Any recommendations??

Hey maybe try dermalogica clear start foam wash. It has good reviews and it's main ingredients are tea tree and lavender.

Soap probably will make them worse as it dries the skin which then gets over active in bad ways ime.

I had terrible blackheads as a teenager/early 20s until a woman at a beauty counter told me to start using toner as part of my cleanse and moisturize routine. Changed my life. At 8, a gentle toner wouldn't be inappropriate and might help. Ditto a light moisturizer.

Having said all that, be careful about making a big deal about it and her getting self conscious. A few blackheads aren't really that big a deal.

Dd1 gets them around her nose partially because of her glasses and partly because she is a fetid soap dodger.

Tbh we have a Waitrose sensitive face wash, warm water, long soaky bath and flannel. That clears them up pretty quickly

Not sure soap is the best idea, it's drying. What about simple products?

I was using cream cleanser & toner at 8, copying my mum.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. No crap in it and it works. Both my teenagers use it as do I (i use Elemis too and rotate them monthly)

Witch hazel after washing

When my kids have blackheads I get them to use a proper flannel/facecloth with hot water. It's slightly exfoliating and does the job. My 11 year old still only uses hot water on her face. A gentle scrub seems to sort it every time!

Thank you for all the suggestions.

Will start with one and go from there. She already washes her face once a day with a muslin cloth - started a couple months back but it’s not helping with the blackhead(s). Trying not to make her conscious about it, just don’t want her to tell me I did5 help her with self care 5 years down the line - my mother didn’t really use much apart from cleaning milk and I ficked up my skin by trial and error on my own.

Hot flannel then extract with one of those blemish wands? They're a little metal loop thing.
