Asda are doing a Harry Potter jewellery one I want but I can't find it anywhere!

Anyway, just ordered the Revolution make up advent calendar and the lipstick advent calendar as they're both half-price on the Superdrug website at the moment!

if they have the Hotel Chocolat one I want in stock at my nearest shop I'll be buying that when I get paid.

Luvacuppatea · 08/11/2018 06:43

Splashed out on Liberty. Loved it last year, so indulged again as a special end of year treat. Job done. Then somehow I walked out of M&S with their calendar on Monday. Yesterday, same sort of thing happened and the Aldi lux beauty calendar fell into my trolley!

8mileeminem · 08/11/2018 06:57

I have the beanies coffee one , I'm looking for a Jurassic world one for my dd if anyone knows where I can get one please?

costacoffeecup · 08/11/2018 06:59

Steering clear this year, I do like the M&S one but it's really money for old rope.

dontgobaconmyheart · 08/11/2018 13:56

None, I'm tempted every year to be honest by the huge hype and all the 'costs 20 quid contents are worth 6 million) but then remind myself how bad I am at using things I don't love. Then I take the cost and just buy myself a couple of things I will use and love like 1 posh candle and 1 posh bath oil and a few face masks. Lighting/using them every day in December makes me happy and I don't then feel I wasted money or contributed to excess packaging waste. I sound a right humbug but I just can't get on board with only liking or using half or less of what I paid quite a bit of money for!

AFingerofFudge · 08/11/2018 19:45

bacon you are so sensible, I need you in my life

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 08/11/2018 19:51

Got the M & S one, I always do a home-made one for DD and DH (some of the things I won't use out of the M & S calendar will get put aside for next years calendar for DD). Also, got DH a pork scratching one....

expatmigrant · 08/11/2018 20:23

None

Nearlyadoctor · 08/11/2018 21:05

None - I’m was nearly tempted and have bought DD one from the Bodyshop and DH a Beerhawk one. I wasn’t sure I’d use everything from the ones I liked which were Liberty and Molton Brown ( I don’t like one of the fragrances in the MB and bearing in mind it’s worth £45 on its own it seemed a waste) Instead I’ve bought myself the new Jo Malone perfume and a Hotel Chocolat velvetiser for all of us to use on cold December nights.

pinkground202 · 08/11/2018 21:10

None this year, I already have some unused bits from the M&S calendar from 2 years ago!

I got the L'occitane last year and loved it but still have some stuff unused from it.

Instead I have bought a couple of White Co candles and I'm also going to buy myself a delicious scented hand cream which is something I really love to use, I love Aesop hand cream and the L'occitane almond one.

I don't at all want to sound like a bore but I'm really making an effort this year not to get pulled in by all the Christmas 'your life is incomplete without this' marketing.

Costacoffeeplease · 09/11/2018 00:20

Could we maybe stick to ‘how many advent calendars have you bought’? Rather than how and why you haven’t bought any?

ClartyParty · 09/11/2018 01:43

Ive bought my first ever advent Calendar this year for myself, the m and s one and I’m stupidly excited. I don’t treat myself often and from previous ones the m and s one looks good value, anything I don’t/won’t/can’t use will be passed to friends dd or my sister.

Bought the Lindt teddy one for dd.

Bought the wainwrights one for the dog (I know.....)

Dh doesn’t have one, I’m going to make him one as Friend gave me empty box from one if her m and s ones a few years ago and I’m gonna fill it with a mixture of stuff.

Dh and I never do gifts for each other because we never have the money, I’m looking forward to our calendars and I don’t care if I’ve been suckered or conned by marketing,

CountryCob · 09/11/2018 08:13

I have two and alternate from being very excited to guilty about this! Never had one before now I have the no7 one and (guilty face) Charlotte Tilbury, am going to keep the packaging afterwards on my dressing table as storage. May well not have the money for this next year and in my defence I really really wanted it. Looked through the contents for both and nice mix of skin care and classic makeup so I think will be useful to pimp my (already extensive) collection. Know what people are saying about mini sizes of things you already have/ don’t use - I don’t go away that often! Glad I am not alone on the multiple purchases. I work hard over Christmas, we have animals that need extra care and work also gets busy plus my husband is away more so this way I won’t feel as put upon hopefully running Christmas and enjoy it more, have got chocolate ones for dd and sh, have fun with your advent calendars ladies!

Oblomov18 · 09/11/2018 08:20

Only 1, for me, so far. The Aldi wine advent calendar. Took me 3 attempts to get one.

Ds2 was the Lindor one, but only the red balls. Which they don't do, so I'm not sure yet....

Nearlyadoctor · 09/11/2018 08:36

@Costa@ It may have been a none for me but I did mention the ones bought for Dd & DH , the thread asked how many have you bought?? No need to be quite so snidey!

Doobydoo · 09/11/2018 08:38

7....me,dp,ds1 and ds2 and ds1's student housemates. Dp and I don't normally have one so excited. Mine is PaddingtonGrin

Housewife2010 · 09/11/2018 08:44

This year I have Liberty ( my birthday present from my husband for the 3rd year), M&S ( I always buy it - it's such a bargain and only £28 with my birthday M&S code). I've also succumbed to the Elle & Lumene when they were reduced. I spent ages looking at all the contents and really love the products in the calendars I've chosen. I sell items I won't use on eBay which reduces the cost. I've been thinking of using the Elle one as a diet incentive; every day I've eaten sensibly I could end the day with an open door. I bought the Elle for £80 and used topcashback. My children don't seem bothered by Lego ones this year so I'm planning to fill a previous years Liberty calendars with nice chocolates. I've been interested in trying more items from Lumene and the advent seemed the perfect opportunity.

Costacoffeeplease · 09/11/2018 09:39

@Nearlyadoctor I don’t think I was referring to you

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/11/2018 11:16

I've bought 2 chocolate ones ( Lindt for DD , Malteasers for DS - at their requests)

I'm doing a MYOBAC for DD ( I did one last year) because none of the commercial ones fulfill her very exacting standards !

I have bought some in the past for me but TBH never used the contents though I might go for the Rituals one ..........

purplecorkheart · 09/11/2018 11:18

Two. I have bought the look fantastic ome for myself and Carluccio's one for my Mum.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/11/2018 18:23

None, but I saw one with pork scratchings in which I thought looked nice, being a low carb dieter! Asda did a cheese one last year but it needed the be refrigerated. I would never buy a beauty one, I cannot justify the expense.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/11/2018 18:35

Costco had a Gin Advent Grin
And a Jams/Marmalade one

CrazySheepLady · 09/11/2018 19:43

Just 1, from M&S, and that will be my only one!

Housewife2010 · 10/11/2018 09:56

For anyone who wants the Lookfantastic one you can get 22% off until midday with the code FLASH22. SO £61 rather than £79. Free postage.

happypoobum · 10/11/2018 14:29

Five

2 x M&S Beauty for me and for DD

1 x Pets At Home Kitty one for HappyCat

2 x Galaxy chocolate ones for DS and DD

Fortunately for my bank balance I was too late for Liberty Grin

I always get the M&S calendar and find it so useful for trying new products and amazing value for money. DD and I swap products we don't want, or give them away so there is no wastage.
