Help! Formal black tie dress

Hoping someone can provide me with some inspiration!

I'm a size 10, 30 years old, gangly person who lives in jeans!

I need a dress for a black tie event and I'm flummoxed. I don't wear dresses often and when I do I feel uncomfortable usually. I would love to pull off the glam look for the event I'm going to, but I've no clue where to start!

Budget around £150 but preferably cheaper!

something like this maybe?

Black tie can cover quite a lot of events (full length is only an absolute must for white tie).

Do you know if it's long or short, and if it involves sitting down to eat?

I don't actually think it's full on black tie if that means full length only - just formal will do. The other people attending will be in what I would consider to be black tie dresses (floor length). I still want to feel nice and fancy but just want to find something I can be comfortable in

Have a look on ASOS - they’ve got some really nice ones atm for reasonable prices.
I usually order loads, try them all on at home and send back any that don’t work.
