Best shampoo for silver hair please.

I normally use Pro Voke, but it doesn’t lather much like a normal shampoo, and I can never get a comb through my hair once I’ve washed and towel dried it, without pulling chunks out.

Is there any other shampoo for silver hair like a normal lathery type that I can use, so I can get a comb through it?
It’s driving me mad...

I’m rubbish at thread titles, I meant a shampoo for silver hair that lathers like a normal shampoo...

Aveda Blue Malva - there's a shamppo and a colour specific conditioner .
I've used the clove , madder root and camomile over the years , they leave the hair in really good condition

I love Fanola no yellow shampoo. I've tried quite a few now but this is the only one that doesn't leave a purple tinge if I leave it on a little longer- it seems to make it 'frostier' rather than just adding purple.
I then just put a creamier conditioner on, although I am thinking of getting their hair mask to try once one of my many my current conditioner runs out.

Fanola, or pureology perfect for platinum

Sitranced · 02/11/2018 19:48

I just mix some directions violet semi hair dye to any white shampoo/conditioner I'm using at the time.

I use Clairol Shimmer Lights shampoo and conditioner for blonde and silver hair.

Funky soap malva and lemon bar soap is great, I find it much better than pro voke on my greys.

ColdNeverBotheredMeAnyway · 02/11/2018 23:08

Shamelessly bookmarking so I can look for some of these myself

CS12345 · 02/11/2018 23:30

Fanola is the best on the market but it's not the nicest smell and you have to wear gloves as it's very heavily pigmented and stains like mad.

Yorkshiremum17 · 02/11/2018 23:40

Lush do a purple shampoo that smells of violets, I think it's called daddyo? It's gorgeous, I use it once a week and it keeps my white hair white,

Ostagazuzulum · 03/11/2018 07:38

Bleach London silver shampoo and conditioner are brilliant. I also use the shampoo as a hair mask every now and then to boost the colour between hairdresser visits

AdoreTheBeach · 03/11/2018 07:41

I use the L’Oréal for silver too. Works best on my hair. When I used one for platinum blond, became brassy. Lathers great. However, I do also use a conditioner so I have no trouble combing my wet hair.

HumptyNumptyNooNoo · 03/11/2018 15:23

I've ordered some Fanola to try - usually wash my hair whilst in the shower, will I come out all silver ??

CS12345 · 03/11/2018 16:38

Wear gloves otherwise your hands will be stained purple. Fanola is strong stuff.

doctorboo · 03/11/2018 18:13

I’m jumping on the Fanola bandwagon, sounds really good!

CS12345 · 03/11/2018 18:18

It IS really good but it doesn't smell nice and it stains like buggery. It's worth it though!

doctorboo · 03/11/2018 19:06

@CS12345 I’m 35 and so grey it’s worth it Grin

ColdNeverBotheredMeAnyway · 03/11/2018 19:57

I'm up for trying Fanola but will I have to wash it over the sink rather than in the shower if it stains? I don't want to end up purple!

Incidentally for those of you natural Silver Foxes - have you ever tried putting colours in your hair? I really want some purple streaks, but when I've tried dyeing it it just washes out immediately. My hairdresser said I'd have to bleach it to get any colour to stick, but having spent a year growing out my dyed brown hair to get to my lovely silver colour, I'm reluctant to bleach it...

CS12345 · 03/11/2018 21:24

It seems to stain nails and cuticles rather than skin, so you're safe to use it in the shower. Just rinse it off your body and tiles as well!!

ColdNeverBotheredMeAnyway · 03/11/2018 21:25

Just reading the reviews on Amazon - some of the before and after photos are incredible.

Soontobe60 · 03/11/2018 21:30

I use bleach London shampoo, but I mix it 50/50 with L'Oréal Elvive shampoo for fine hair. It brightens my grey without turning it blue. I wash my hair every day.

pockledigg · 04/11/2018 18:33

Get yourself some Gentian Violet off ebay and add to your conditioner as required.

Glowerglass · 04/11/2018 18:39

Tresemme violet shampoo is the best one I've found. Though Bleach silver conditioner is good too. Much more expensive though.
