Should I lose more weight?

Hi all,

Inspired by a similar post I have seen on here today, I thought I'd jump in and ask for opinions.

I have been working hard this past spring and summer at losing weight and toning up, after gaining nearly 2 stone during the year before. I am please with myself for sticking to my goals and achieving a significant weight loss!

Several people in real life have mentioned that they think I should stop losing weight now, while my plan was to keep going and maybe lose another half a stone. Then the goal will be maintenance and toning up.

I don't know if I have lost sight of what weight I should aim for. I am 5'7 and currently weight 8.6 stone.

So please mumsnetters, can you advise? Do you think there is still room for shedding a bit more? Or should I start with maintenance now and focus on toning up?

Thank you!

I think you look great op, and that is a light weight for your height...stay where you are and well done.

Have you calculated your BMI? A healthy BMI is 18.5-25. If further weight loss would take you outside that range you should definitely stop.

I think you should stop. If you still feel a bit flabby, weight training will sort that out. If you lose more you will be underweight

I have found that building some muscle and getting stronger and leaner, gave me the good body feeling that I thought weight loss would give me.

I think you look fantastic!

Any tips?😳 I piled on a stone in the last year for no reason at all other than approaching 40!

Goal weight is 9 stone 10!

I also think that is a low weight for your height, if you lost any more you would be underweight.
You look fine, I would concentrate on improving muscle tone and fitness.

Thank you all for your kind replies! It sounds like it is time to start hitting the gym more often!

I’m 5ft 8 and weigh 8st 9. If I drop below 8 and a half stone I begin to look a bit ill so I’d stop now.

Another half a stone is far too much. Definitely focus on building muscle now and that will tone you too.
