tell me your haircare regime - I need inspiration for my not so crowning glory!

currently using Charles Worthington Thicker & Fuller and Dead Sea Minerals ranges.

my hair is dry, fine, brown with some grey, shoulder length, slightly (annoyingly) wavy, oh and a sensitive scalp.

I’ve got fine hair which all of a sudden has gotten thinner. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still loads of it but compared to how it was, it’s thinning. I now wash every other day. It’s below shoulder length. I always let it dry naturally. I’ve gone back in the past week, to taking Biotin supplements. I took for years and stopped about 6 months ago so, maybe that’s it?

I never scrub my scalp. Just gently massage and then rinse. You could have some colour put through? It’d “thicken” your locks.

My hair is highlighted so I use a purple shampoo to stop the brassy tones. Any conditioner for dry hair - I can't seem to find one that is amazing, so I switch a lot. Currently using up a L'Oreal one which is ok.

The product I LOVE is ColourWow DreamCoat which makes my hair SO SOFT. You need to blow dry or straighten your hair to 'activate' it but it really is amazing stuff.

Once hair is dry I run a little Extraordinary Oil or other taming product through the ends.

I use Batiste dry shampoo in between washes and Cool Girl by Sam McKnight to give it some texture.

That's about it - sometimes I use Elasticiser or Espa pink mud mask before washing, but I usually forget.

This is a good conditioner for me, but then I have high/lowlights.

This. Sainsbury’s have it on offer at £4 rather than £6.

In the last 18 months I've grow my hair from very short to past my collarbone, so dry ends have come as a shock to me. I've found that using Philip Kingsley Elasticiser has helped. I leave it on for about 30 mins, then shampoo twice. I vary between wash out and leave in conditioners. If necessary, I use a bit of Amika's leave in balm on fly away ends.

I now wash my hair no more than twice a week. When my hair was short I had to wash every day.

I only wash my hair once a week, sometimes a bit longer shock horror but if its washed anymore than that it gets incredible dry and starts frizzing and snapping off.
I use bog standard Alberto or Tresemme shampoo but always use a hair masque for conditioner. Kerastase resistance mask is my fave at the moment but I also like the Kiehls olive one. I then use Redken anti snap and some form of oil and heat protector and blow dry and straighten. I hate having hair like the bloody Sahara desert but this routine keeps it halfway decent.

Wash every 3 days in the shower, sometimes use a bit of dry shampoo on day 3 and stretch it to 4. Use one application of any volumising shampoo on offer. Comb through, leave to dry naturally unless it's a very cold day or I need to go out in which case I just blast with my dd's hairdryer.

I exercise pretty much every day so wash every day. I just shampoo and condition, occasionally put some oil through to calm the frizz. Long, coloured, dryish hair. Rarely blow dry.

bobinks · 03/11/2018 00:04

ooh thanks all - seems like some kind of mask/serum might be useful. I like the idea of highlights/lowlights but slightly worried about a flare up on my scalp - any thoughts on this? or anyone used a colour-enriching shampoo/condisitoner?

I box dye mine (terrible for my hair) I was it once a week or less. I use L'Oréal Elvive for dyed hair shampoo then use a Pantene 3 minute miracle type conditioner for dyed hair. I leave it on whilst I shave my legs in the shower and wash etc. it's great stuff actually. I then apply when dry, some snail gel stuff that the hair dresser recommended. Just for reference my hair is thick, wavy and dry. I used to have loads of hair but now I'm living in a hot country it seems to have thinned out a bit.
