I had botox today!

I've wanted it for years, for my scary vertical frown line, or as DS calls it 'the crack in your head'.

Found a highly rated place near me (Morningside, Edinburgh) and went for a consultation today. The lady was so knowledgeable and reassuring I took her up immediately on her offer to administer the goods there and then.

Five easy peasy tiny pricks later I was out. I've had more painful eyebrow waxes.

There will be no result for about 7 days then complete result by 14. I have a follow up appointment in 14 days.

I'm trying to manage my expectations because it's what they call a static line so botox won't erase it, it's more of a softening plus prevention of it getting even deeper.

As an experience I rate it ten out of ten, let's see what the next two weeks bring! I'll post pics if anyone's interested. Oh and it cost 200 quid.

Can I ask how much bruising / swelling there was? Was it obvious immediately afterwards that you’d had some kind of ‘intervention’? I’m so tempted but would probably need there to be no downtime or visible inflammation straight after so I could just go straight back to the office!

OzzyMadBat · 02/11/2018 08:35

Saving place. Wink
To all those of you who have had it done, does not being able to frown have any effect on your anger levels?!? asking for a friend obviously not me, oh no

MorrisZapp · 02/11/2018 08:36

No bruising, swelling, or visible pin pricks. Nothing at all. Only sore if I push my glasses up too firmly!

I googled all the info, nobody recommended it directly.

Day 2!

Ooh I keep saying I would never get it, grow old gracefully etc etc but its very tempting. I have also started to look angry and tired when I am neither.

VintageFur · 02/11/2018 08:49

Dragonmama - you'd need fillers for that area and I may be a wuss but it's not without pain! I got my marionettes done last month and I'm in love with the results. Will do this forever. Or until someone tells me I should be on Geordie shore! Grin

Botox next for me as I want to life my brow for hooded eyes. There IS a risk of droop which is why they space out the treatments. It happens - you can see pics of Simon cowell and Kourtney Kardashian to see... But nobody died of droop. My dentist said it happened to her so she just wore glasses and make-up until it went.

Oh I’m watching this thread with interest. I have the same deep frown lines. Rest of face is fine but I look permanently angry. Don’t even care about a shiny forehead as I have a fringe. It’s just too short to cover my 11’s . I’m very tempted.

MrsTumbletap · 02/11/2018 10:10

Watching with interest too.

Any difference in the line today?

MrsTumbletap · 02/11/2018 10:11

Oliver yours look great

MickHucknallspinkpancakes · 02/11/2018 10:16

What do people have done to get rid of lip lines? If I purse my lips I'm starting to get two lines leading into my upper lip. Is there something to use to delay a cats bum face? 😣

Delatron · 02/11/2018 12:44

I had it done and hated it. Reputable doctor too. I think it made me look more tired. I have slightly hooded eyes so think maybe I had very slight droop. Crows feet too which it erased but then when you smile your eyes don’t crinkle and that looks weird. I also looked slightly dead behind the eyes.

Looked best about 3 weeks before it wore off completely.

I was also put off by spotting lots of bad Botox in NYC. Lots of shiny smooth foreheads that didn’t match the rest of the face...

MorrisZapp · 02/11/2018 13:43

My face is holding up well for 47, it's the angry brow that's ageing me. I'm not worried about NYC forehead syndrome :)

(and if I was, who could tell?)

Line very much the same today but its only (Geordie Big Brother voice) day two!

I had Botox three times. First time was fine. Second I was not keen as it really affected my eyes - so much so I spoke to th guy who did mine (know him socially and we were out for dinner) and he said he would do less next time. Next time I liked it even less. A very honest friend told me I looked like a doll as my forehead and eye area didn’t move. So I won’t be doing that again.

I have had Profhilo and much prefer that - just makes my skin look better. On Monday I’m having something that comes from the company that do Profhilo around my eyes and on forehead. Supposed to just soften all the lines but everything will still move.

FellSwoop · 03/11/2018 15:14

48 hours later and I am struggling to frown but can still lift eyebrows and I swear my horizontal lines are fading. I had between the brows and top of forehead done. Had bumps for about 20 mins after procedure but after they went my forehead looked completely normal, no swelling/bruising/redness.

I had 0.55ml lip filler a month ago, which resulted in 2-3 comical days of swelling, minor bruising and mega chapped lips once the sweilling went down. But my lips look really natural and it's ironed out any pesky fine smokers lines around my lips.

OHolyNightOwl · 03/11/2018 15:28

I had botox in February and it has only completely worn off in the last month( maybe two) or so. My frown lines are back, but not as severe and I find I frown less as I couldn't for such a long time!
I am definitely having it done again.
Going to look for a photo I took, where I was trying my most extreme surprised face about 2 weeks post botox and not a line showed!

OHolyNightOwl · 03/11/2018 15:31

Here, extremely surprised look!

I had botox today!
FellSwoop · 03/11/2018 19:05

@OHolyNightOwl Well, you're just a bit too gorgeous! Like a beautiful snow fairy or something!

WipsGlitter · 03/11/2018 21:07

Fingers crossed!

MorrisZapp · 03/11/2018 21:16

I'm having myself for wanting this at the moment. I have a whole mmurban metropolitan tram system running across my forehead and am keen to tmget rid without being frozen. I'd have to have it done without telling anyone at all ... Grin

ohnothanks · 03/11/2018 21:23

Urban!

ohnothanks · 03/11/2018 21:24

Hating hating hating. Not having. ffs. I give up.

LostInShoebiz · 04/11/2018 08:40

For the person who asked upthread, definitely feel the anger levels drop and feel more relaxed for sure. However I read recently the same effect happens with sexual enjoyment and that drops off a bit too.
