Cape style coat. Not a coatigan or pashmina

Has anyone seen or can recommend anywhere that I may find a cape style coat but an actual coat I.e. lined and somewhat suitable for winter?

not a coatigan or pashmina / shawl and preferably belted (not asking for much).

I’m pregnant and would rather not buy a maternity coat as baby isn’t due until late spring so don’t think I’ll be huge over the coldest months and would prefer a coat I’ll be able to wear again next year.

I bought a swing style coat from ASOS years before I had my kids but it worked really well. So try searching for a swing style as it will allow room for bump but look good afterwards.

I think there's a type of coat with an insert for maternity that later can be used the other way round for slings and then taken out for just a coat but not sure it's name.

^ the person who told me about that coat also found it on ASOS.

Great tip thank you. Searching Cape coat isnt really bringing up the type of thing I’m looking for

& Other Stories had some cape style coats. They look good and can be worn as proper coats although I doubt they will properly keep you warm on the depths of winter.

When I was pregnant a couple of years ago I did buy a padded maternity coat from New Look, it was in the sale so I paid peanuts for it, £15 iirc. I breathed a huge sigh of relief being able to properly zip something up and be warm for the first time in weeks (it was a harsh winter). I still wear that coat now, it’s large and duvet like - it looks deliberately oversized rather than me looking like a Dalek. I get compliments for it all the time.

What I’m saying is don’t discount maternity coats, the right style can see you much longer, and you’ll be grateful for being warm Smile

Mine also had a funnel neck and a search brings up the sort of thing it was (this is sadly out of stock) mine didn't have a belt though and had a lot more 'swing' space if that makes sense.

This is the type of structure mine was, no nip in at the waist. This kind of shape I think works really well. (I really like this!)

Wow thanks all, some really nice options and ideas there. Will have to order them and see what they’re like. Although annoyingly the JL is out of stock in my size 😖 but I like the swing style as it has proper sleeves

I also had a swing style coat, I just layered it up to keep the bottom of my bump warm. I also borrowed DH’s waterproof coat towards the end!
