Help. Trousers/jeans for narrow hips

FesteringCarbuncle · 30/10/2018 20:08

I have narrow hips and not much bum. I hate belts but I can't keep trousers/jeans up without them. I resort to dresses or skirts with leggings or tights
I would love something comfortable to relax at home in that looks smartish and I would love jeans/trousers that fit
They tend to be baggy around the hip part and fall down easily

I have this problem and I have resorted to wearing a belt but they are so uncomfortable. I hope ppl have some good suggestions soon

Just you and me then fishandchops
I was hoping to avoid belts but have you seen the SUOSDEY belt on Amazon?
I've seen them advertised before but they were £20. The price has now dropped and could be good for trousers/jeans that have belt loops

Men's jeans?

FesteringCarbuncle · 31/10/2018 11:10

I don't usually like the style of men's jeans but I guess a classic like 501s might work
No good for smarter trousers though

I like the Zara jogger waist trousers, as they are elastic at the back, I wear a smaller size and they don’t fall down.

I found success with Mint Velvet slim boyfriend jeans. I bought two pairs in the summer reduced to £22 from £69. They fit really well without the need for a belt. I think they still have the same ones, or very similar ones, renamed 'Roseville slim boyfriend jeans'.
I have very slim hips and very little to speak of in terms of a bum but I do have a bit of a tummy (not that enormous but not as minimal as the hip/bum area!)

tonsattingforbjudes · 31/10/2018 16:28

And for smarter I bought some pull on Uniqlo ones which are BRILLIANT! Their stock seems to change quickly so they're not on the website now but maybe worth trying a range of styles you have a branch near you.

I'm jealous of you slim hipped ladies (from a pear shape)

lindyloo57 · 31/10/2018 18:31

i do as zydecolaydee does, a smaller size from zara to fit my small bum, also had some luck with H&M trousers as long as they have an elastic waist, i have to make sure the waist is not too tight, i have a size twelve waist and a 8/10 hips. going to take a look at the mint velvet jeans.

babyblackbird · 31/10/2018 18:57

I'd second Mint Velvet. I am a size 6 and only 5'1 but they fit really well and I would even dare to say a touch tight ! They also do 3 different leg lengths - I have several pairs of jeans particularly the biker style jeans.

Hannnnnnnxo · 31/10/2018 19:19

Sorry but I’m a bit confused as to why they’re falling down - seems like they were the wrong size to begin with. What styles give you this problem?

I would recommend buying denim by waist size rather than dress size. EG TOPSHOP do a waist 24 (size 4) so you should be able to find a pair small enough to fit your hips. Topshop Jamie (high waisted skinny) are particularly tight so won’t fall down. They also have other styles like mom, straight leg, non high waisted etc. They also do different lengths, which may help you narrow down a better fit. Sounds like you may to adjust the size you’re purchasing.

It just sounds like you’ve stumbled across unflattering stuff! Strategic back pockets on denim give you the illusion of a bum, mom/boyfriend style jeans will make your hips look wider, tapered trousers with a bit of detail around the hips (eg 1-2 pleats near pockets) will also have the same effect.

FesteringCarbuncle · 31/10/2018 20:20

Straight, skinny, bootcut
I have mexx, fatface, next, warehouse
The stretch doesn't help. When I put them on the waist fits but gets looser as I wear them then, because of no hips and bum, I am constantly pulling them up

festering, same here, tried topshop, next, oasis, even jeggings, just about all high street, ex high end, nothing works. i have to buy them to tight on waist to work, but end up not wearing them as when i sit down they are uncomfortably and dig in ths waist.

LoniceraJaponica · 01/11/2018 09:20

I think the stretch bit makes them harder to keep up. I have this problem as a pear shape as well. Maybe you should be looking at jeans that have no stretch in them.

tonsattingforbjudes · 01/11/2018 09:45

I think that's very true, LJ. The Mint Velvet ones that work for me are not skinnies and have minimal stretch, they don't feel stretchy but do contain a little elastane.
