Going to a ball - need help!

Hi all,

Bit last minute but I'm off to a ball in a week and need some drastic help.

I'm 39, a size 16/18, big boobs, big hips, smaller waist.

I need a long ball gown, pref with long sleeves, and a v neck.

Shoes - I absolutely can't wear heels anymore. Well not tall ones. My knees are buggered and I can't manage them. What do I go for?

I normally wear vintage type tea or swing dresses as they seem to flatter by shape, and I wear Mary Jane court shoes (which I've since found out I shouldn't as the ankle strap makes ones legs look worse when fat!).

Budget of around £150......HELP!

I always say this have you had a look at Chichi curve? What type of ball is it? Charity/military or just a lovely night?

shakeyourcaboose · 30/10/2018 20:09

This is rather fabulous: www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_61252+278660_-1

shakeyourcaboose · 30/10/2018 20:25

Is their dress code? Just thinking of military balls l went to with shoulders covered etc!

Colabottle10 · 30/10/2018 20:29

Shoulders covered till after dinner - hate the top of my arms hence wanting something with sleeves.

Got to be floor length. Nothing clingy (that's not a rule, that's just me!) prefer big skirts.

www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_63411+L10901D1A_-1 - gorgeous and risqué bodice. Out of stock, but could be worth looking elsewhere if you like it?

mugalug · 30/10/2018 20:32

Are you going to be wearing it again or is it a once outfit?

FauxFox · 30/10/2018 20:37

navy
pink

SilverHairedCat · 30/10/2018 20:40

Just a thought, we got my maid of honour a gown in a local bridal place off the rack on a sale rail for £90. You might be surprised what you can find in bridal and prom dress type shops if you have time to pop in anywhere.

Saw someone in this at a ball. Long sleeves but not v neck though.

Colabottle10 · 30/10/2018 22:24

Lots to look at thanks all. No pro won't be wearing it again. Shame there's nowhere local to hire.
