Ankle grazer trousers in winter

I have been wearing ankle grazer trousers with loafers for work all summer but now that it's a bit colder, I just don't feel they look (or feel) right.

What can I wear them with now so I'm not cold? And still look professional and put together?!

I think ankle grazer trousers are a standard style at this point, so you could continue to wear them just fine throughout winter (layer sheer tights under if necessary when it’s super cold). You won’t be the only person still wearing them!

Ankle boots seem like the obvious option going forward: heeled leather and heeled patent black would look professional. Then maybe buy longer length pairs to wear with your loafers? Or ditch the loafers temporarily for something like Dr Marten 1461 where more of your foot is covered, and you can wear socks.

What’s the rest of your outfit like? I don’t think the cheeky bit of ankle will make your outfit inappropriate for colder weather as you are essentially still fully covered, you might need to adjust the top half of your outfit instead? Eg adding a jumper to/from work and taking it off at work.

OR depending on your style/work dress code, you can layer the trousers and loafers with socks (sort of like a typical ‘trendy TOPMAN’ outfit, black ankle grazers trousers, skinny black socks, chunky black shoes, albeit this look may not suit everyone)

I was surprised at how undressed I felt with bare ankles and feet when it got colder. I wasn't frozen but it just felt like I wasn't dressed properly!!

I don't think I'm stylish enough to do socks it till probably have to be ankle boots but I worry that it'll just look like my trousers are too short!!

I have the same dilemma and had a look at the Sainsbury's sale today, they have some ribbed/patterned black ankle pop socks which fill the gap nicely so I bought a few pairs.

How high up do pop socks go whisky ? I have this issue but worried I’d still be showing leg above pop socks when I sit down.

This is the packet but they pull up high enough for my uniqlo and gap 7/8

I find if the socks are too high they grip your trousers and you keep having to adjust them when you stand up, so I'd rather risk a small gap lol

Thanks

Do you work in an office or somewhere heated? I wear socks for my commute on frosty mornings and take them off when I get inside.

No gap beyond October for me. Some of them look ok with ankle boots but if not they get put away till the spring. I like ankle grazers but I like being warm more.

SymbollocksInteractionism · 02/11/2018 18:24

I wear fishnet tights under mine.

Pinkyyy · 02/11/2018 18:27

I've been wearing mine with heeled ankle boots. I think if they overlap it looks a bit odd, but if there's a small gap between the end of the trousers and the boots it looks great
