Waxing advice

(Specifically bikini area)

For various reasons, waxing is the only method of hair removal that works for me, until I can afford laser sessions. However I find this area excruciatingly painful - sometimes I have to get the lady to pauseBlush I have a high pain tolerance in general and don’t find other areas painful to wax; I really like how fine the hair on my legs/underarms have become - you can’t tell I’m hairy on my ‘hairy days’ and I’d like to replicate that fine regrowth downstairs but it honestly really hurts.

So would appreciate any tips on how to prep for my next appointment!

If you can find someone that uses Lycon Pinkini hot wax it it much more gentle. A pre as oil is used and the wax sticks to the hair not the skin.
Are you having strip or hot wax as strip is much more painful and not recommended for bikini area,

JennyRob20 · 29/10/2018 12:42

Take two ibuprofen 60 mins before and get her to wax around the rear first. It doesn’t hurt as much and helps build up your confidence. Then take two parecetomol when it’s time to turn over. Works every time

IKnewTheStorm · 29/10/2018 18:03

Second Lycon and ibuprofen and don’t let the hairs get too long - maybe every 3 weeks?

Hot wax waxing changed my life- so much better than the old school strips

WipsGlitter · 29/10/2018 19:43

In contrast I had pink wax once and actually cried it was so painful.

Redken24 · 29/10/2018 19:46

Hot wax is much much better than strip wax.
Are you getting it done close to your period? That can make a difference.

Hannnnnnnxo · 29/10/2018 20:15

Thanks for all the advice!!! Flowers

I have been having strip waxes - will have to start going to a salon that uses hot/pink wax!

TMI but I think my problem also stems from years of shaving/hair removal creams, my regrowth is quite thick and coarse :( when I get waxed I’m prone to sensitive/raw feeling skin afterwards and little cuts.

Funnily enough, I’m on the depo so I don’t get periods anymore but I have been experiencing on/off random bleeding - so I’m constantly near a ‘period’ if that makes sense?

I have a regular Hollywood wax (everything off), and with hot wax, it's fine.

TheOneWith · 29/10/2018 21:18

If your wax is done properly the hair should not feel thick and coarse. If they’re using strip wax it sounds like they’re snapping the hair off just under the skin rather than pulling it out properly by the roots.

Find someone that uses Lycon. You’ll never look back!

duriandurian · 30/10/2018 06:00

You need hot, not strip wax. It costs more and takes more skill so not all salons will offer it. So much better.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/10/2018 08:47

Look in you area for a Kim lawless trained waxer.

Strip wax is meant to be for arms and legs only, its hot wax for everything else.

Contraception halts your cycle completely so it shouldn’t affect pain.
