What is going on with Boden these days?

I have always quite liked Boden in a not too adventurous, know that a size 14 will fit, bit pricey for my budget but probably worth it kind of way and now it seems they have deserted me. It is true that I am 48 and no rake but, really, are they only selling to gorgeous young things these days? Their customer service, which used to be superlative, is now disinterested and they have can't even be bothered to reply. Seems they are too busy courting sodding influencers to talk to me. Who can I give my money to instead?

Same age and size and I get a lot from them, but always wait til they have an 15% of day.

Got the silk shirt most recently, it’s pricey and very good quality and nice shape.

25% not 15%!! And I got sent a £10 voucher recently as well.

I used to buy quite a bit from Boden but haven't found anything I like for ages. I do love their Dorchester skirt this season though and have two for work, would happily buy a third but as is often the case with Boden they go out of stock quickly. I am 47 btw.

The best thing they do now is shoes. Not the mumsy ‘amateur heels for middle class mums who don’t want to look too glamorous at the PTA do’ shoes, the nice ones. Their Bridgewater ankle boots are good.

Rainbowsandrascals · 28/10/2018 21:16

I agree. Where else sells good quality clothes in nice colours / patterns?

Doobydoo · 28/10/2018 21:16

Agree re customer service. I just buy ds2's stuff from them. I think the clothes for me are hugely overpriced.

Doobydoo · 28/10/2018 21:17

I like Seasalt.

They've been trying to move away from the 'mumsnet' crowd for a few years now and judging from the makeover of their landing page, they're well on their way.

It's a shame as they seem quite happy to turn their back on faithful customers in pursuit of a younger/trendier crowd. I've not bought Boden for a while now as the quality no longer seems to be what it was, particularly the cashmere. Far too many items in polyester too. They have some really good ideas but things are never quite right, a colourway is off or a shoe's heel isn't quite right.

QueenofLouisiana · 28/10/2018 21:47

I used to buy several things each season. In the last year I’ve bought 3, 2 of which were the same top (white and navy/ white stripes).

There’s just nothing I fancy enough to pay that sort of money for. I buy more from Sainsbury’s TU than I do Boden. At least I can try it on, see the colours and pay an appropriate price.

Having said that, I bought a new cashmere/ wool blend Boden coat from Oxfam last week. Gorgeous navy, wrap with a single button and a Meghan style belt. Distinctive bright pink bank on the inside lining. No idea when it was part of the collection, but I love it.

AtHomeInFrance · 29/10/2018 08:58

It's very strange. They don't want my business any more and yet my nieces who are in their 30s wouldn't be seen dead in Boden. Agree that the quality/material has gone down while the prices are a bit silly.

I haven't ordered from Boden for ages but got some things to try on for myself when I bought DH some 25% off lounge pants. It's all going straight back - expensive tweed skirt with neither swish nor flattering cut; cheap thin jersey tops; scratchy knitwear. I'm 44. I'm a bit depressed.

redexpat · 29/10/2018 10:44

Im quite late to the boden party. Last year I bought 5 dresses. This season theres nothing I want to buy. Hurumph. The fit is good though.

Aisha, I just want a really flattering black jersey dress that I can throw in the washing machine and wear with different jackets. Does that really require mighty spells?

LaurieFairyCake · 29/10/2018 10:59

:)))

Fuck me that's hilarious

MoltonSilver · 29/10/2018 11:00

Thank you aisha. I needed a good laugh.

Isleepinahedgefund · 29/10/2018 11:04

I see Aisha isn't offering to sort out Boden though....

AtHomeInFrance · 29/10/2018 11:10

..... that would take some doing though!
