I can't afford to spend hundreds of pounds on a nice posh handbag (although I'd like to!!) what's in trend at the moment that I could get for around £100 ish? Black preferably, and large - ish, every day wear.

Jesus. I've never spent more than £30.

Goingonandonandon · 27/10/2018 18:00

Fessmess, neither have I!!! That's why I am asking. I used to work as a childminder and had casual backpacks, now I have a proper office job so I want to a) treat myself and b) fit in a bit more...

Have a look in Flannels (download the app) and see if there's anything you like? You can set a spending limit and it'll show you a range of designer bags.

I scroll through and drool dream over them.

How lovely - what a great thing to do for yourself.
I would get a real leather one because they last longer. You can make a good quality leather one last longer than three £30 imitation leather handbags.
I would go M and S. They make classic big handbags within your budget. If you go classic it won’t go out of fashion.

Shutupanddance1 · 27/10/2018 18:08

Not sure on the prices but outlets would probably be a good place to source a nice handbag for yourself - Mulberry and Kate Spade are nice but I’m not sure on the price points in outlets.

I eh, like handbags so usually spend a fair bit on them - most of mine have lasted tho. I’ve a 10 year old Marc Jacob bag still going strong that I bought second hand.

April241 · 27/10/2018 18:10

Fossil, Kate Spade, Ted Baker. Try outlets too if there are any close by, and TKMaxx! I’ve had some Fossil bargains in there.

NameWithChange · 27/10/2018 18:12

M&S surprised me with how many nice ones they had. Can get a 20% off day too and get a lovely leather one for a really good price.

April241 · 27/10/2018 18:13

Ooh or a longchamp le pliage?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/10/2018 18:15

Anything you like in the Fossil sale/outlet?

LuxuryWoman2018 · 27/10/2018 18:22

Agree M&S have some great bags this year. I’d hold out for the Coach sale and up the budget a little bit.
There are some nice bags on Brand Alley at the moment and Osprey is lovely, you might get something on budget in the sale section. Take a look for discount codes for anywhere you may buy a bag too.

percheron67 · 27/10/2018 18:53

TKMaxx have a good selection.

PurpleNailVarnish · 27/10/2018 18:56

Modalu are good quality and come in at around the right price.

OHolyNightOwl · 27/10/2018 21:07

Yes, to TK Max. You can also get a lovely, barely used, second hand leather bag on EBay. Maybe Coach?
I have bought Mulberry and Mark Jacobs bags on Ebay and have so far not been scammed!

ilovecherries · 28/10/2018 00:11

Yes to waiting for the Coach sale if you can hang off. The last two years I’ve bought myself a lovely bag from there. More or less at your budget, might have to add a few more £s but not a lot. You end up with a lot of bag for your money. Fossil is also worth a look (and also have great sales, although sometimes their sale has their more out there colours). Also worth atrawl through TKMaxx, although it’s more down to luck in there. Enjoy your new bag. I never used to spend more than £30 on a bag till a couple of years ago, then I had a bit of a mini-transformation and I must say, a nice bag certainly makes me feel more polished.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 28/10/2018 00:26

Tk maxx bargaintastic

ChishandFips33 · 28/10/2018 04:12

IWouldLikeToKnow · 28/10/2018 05:58

Ted baker have 25% off at the moment

mocha78 · 28/10/2018 07:58

When is the Coach sale usually? I love the look of the Edie bag just the size and style I am after. Or anyone know any similar bags in different brands?

shakeyourcaboose · 28/10/2018 08:00

Tk maxx definitely- also love modalu

I think unless you have hundreds to go designer (which i never do lol) you can get a decent bag for around 50 easily on the high street. River island always do a nice tote bag. Big enough for work but still looks good with skinnys and boots at the weekend.

EmpressJewel · 28/10/2018 08:59

Mocha78 I think the coach sake starts after Xmas.

I bought a bag for £118 in January and it still looks in perfect condition.

teta · 28/10/2018 09:08

Tk Maxx online and ebay.
Also Accessorise do good large leather bags.

mrssmooth · 28/10/2018 09:09

Try John Lewis or Debenhams for a handbag, as well as TK Maxx. You definitely want a leather one for that price! I would also have a look at Amazon as well - they have some lovely leather bags for reasonable prices. The hardest part is deciding on the style of bag you like best ... good luck with your search.

LuxuryWoman2018 · 28/10/2018 09:59

I'm hoping for a Coach black Friday sale.
