Nice inexpensive glasses?

Where do I get nice specs that look more expensive than they are?

Glasses Direct are good. They send you out ‘stunt’ pairs so you can try them on at home. I’ve got a couple of lovely pairs from there, and they’re really reasonably priced.

Mr Spex, German company. My frames were £230 in Boots, glazed with prescription lenses £89 delivered from Mr Spex.

Maybeicanhelp · 26/10/2018 14:13

Asda!

Their prices are so reasonable, and include frames, lenses (thin if your prescription is over a certain number), tint if you want sunnies, varifocals if required, scratch-resistant and anti-glare coating. I also have astigmatism, so correction of that too.

They have designer pairs at £80 and £110 and value (which I have, and are great) at £45.

I couldn't be more pleased with mine Smile.

I’ve seen a lovely pair in the new M and S opticians in Mcr - they are called Raphia, going to order then next week. There’s discount and free eye tests till the end of the month.

Bailey Nelson or Cubbitts

WinkysTeatowel · 26/10/2018 17:32

Find some you like instore and then just google to find online. I found my last ones (DKNY) in Boots, bought them online for about half the price.

alittlequinnie · 26/10/2018 19:49

specs by post I got two pairs of prescription glasses with cases and clothes, delivered - £17. Not an opening offer - most of their glasses are £6 a pair.

alittlequinnie · 26/10/2018 19:51

Sorry I mean selectspecs - specs by post are good also but double the price - massive £12 per pair!

mrscee · 26/10/2018 19:55

I agree select specs I got my current pair for £13 with prescription lenses

PickledHoneybuzzard · 27/10/2018 11:25

If you buy glasses online where do you take them to get them adjusted to fit? I wear varifocals (£500ish, gulp) and they have to be properly adjusted so that I'm looking through the right zone for each distance.
Will places like Boots adjust glasses from other places? Seems a bit rude!

theboxofdelights · 27/10/2018 12:23

Pickled, DH got varifocals from Mr Spex and they fit perfectly. The system allows you to put pupillary distance in. You can get four pairs of specs to try on and then use their software to take a photo of yourself in the frames you want - the rest is automatic.

Then DH got Ray Ban frames with reduced thickness lenses varifocals for £180, just the frames were more than that in Boots.

PickledHoneybuzzard · 27/10/2018 14:16

Hi box it's the arm length that has to be adjusted as my head is quite small and one ear is higher than the other. I sound delightful, don't I ? 😂

Anyone used goggle4u?

I haven't had my eyes tested yet, but I'm checking out shops for when I have an up to date prescription. Current glasses so crap.
