Too old??????

So im 40 and recently lost 32lb (still about 10lb to go to be a 10) and im hsving to regularly replace my clothes (obviousl) so am just buying essentials and not paying alot as with 6 weeks its too big. Worse problems to have i know.
am currently a large 12 small 14 and im short.
Last week i bit the bullet and bought some over the knee suede high heeled boots. Wore them with skinny jeans a plain black top and leather biker to a night out with friends. I was dubious that i would look like a fat old woman trying to be a young skinny one but i felt great sexy and got told i looked great.
This week i nedded to replace my black jeggings (can only find them in a couple of basic highstreet shops as big bum but small waist and short leg length) anyway i got tempted by my normal.style but in coated black jeggings). Ive ordered them to go with my boots for a girls night out nin a few weeks.and now im thinking god woman youre going to look like mutton.
Any experience of coatedjeans/any tips. Obv i havent tried them on yeat so its all irrelevant at the mo. I was thinking the jeans, over the knee boots and maybe an oversized sweater or plain shirt. Advice???

Not too old at all! I personally wouldn't wear coated jeans with suede boots, but that's a personal taste thing not an age one. If you like how they look together you're definitely not too old.

I do think that oversized jumpwrs look better with flat boots though. Heels make feet look smaller and I feel it can make people look a bit unbalanced. The important bit of that is "I feel" though.

I like coated jeggings but not with over the knee boots. But then, I just don’t like over the knee boots. Nothing to do with age or looking like mutton but it could look a bit dated imo.

ALittleBitConfused1 · 26/10/2018 07:12

I was worried about them looking dated with skinnys in general but the boots are really slouchy and they went really well with the jeans i wore last week.
The reason i ordered the coated ones was because the model had them on with v similar boots, although im not a 6ft model lol.
Ill wait and see what they look like on, my main concern was im too old/fat to wear them lol, thanks ladies.

Im v small on top big boobs but small shoulders and waist so was hoping i could pull the baggy top tight bottoms off.
Thats the thing what to wear on top i dont want anything too much as want the jeans to be the focal point.

Categorically nothing to do with age, but for me that outfit would depend on the quality of the individual items, the detail, and the styling. I don't mean it needs to cost ££, but it must look like it, so no scuffs and wrinkles, the right fabrics put together. Also good hair and make up. Difficult to judge really unless we see the specifics - are the boots chunky heeled, have a platform sole, massive skyscraper stiletto? Is the jumper a fine knit, colour to suit your colouring, or chunky acrylic, or patterned? How much thigh between top of boot and bottom of top, that could really alter the look too?

I'm 58 (yikes!) and I wear coated skinny jeans. But always with a loose-fitting (though not oversized) top that covers my bottom. Otherwise it just looks as if you're trying too hard. If you find they don't work with the over-knee boots, they should be fine with flat ankle boots.

On the practical side, coated jeans are great: don't need ironing, good in the rain, and any marks just wipe off.

Not too old but I think coated leggings don't look great unless you have very skinny legs and they're your best assets. The shiny-ness of them makes your legs look bigger and kind of drawers attention to that part of you. I'm a 12 but with runner's fat thighs so wouldn't wear them.

namechangedtoday15 · 26/10/2018 20:59

Draws attention - not drawers!!

Ellapaella · 26/10/2018 22:01

Coated leggings/jeans can be worn at any age imo. I'm 39 and I have a pair but I wear mine with trainers and a chunky knit for casual wear or heeled shoes for evening wear. I wouldn't wear them with boots personally but that's just my opinion.

Ok so it seems age isnt an issue and that they are pretty versatile.
Thanks ladies i await the delivery of my coated jeans with excitement.
