The perfect cross body bag...

I'm looking for a cross body bag. I don't mind how big it is, as long as I can fit the basics like phone, keys, cash etc. I don't really have a budget but it's something to use most days and I have two small children. Im open to big companies or smaller, independent ones! Thank you.

I got a Cambridge satchel company bag just after DD1 was born. Still going strong and looks beautiful six years on

Do you want leather/ fabric....check out Fatface and Kipling for a wide variety of styles
The gabbie bag from Kipling is fantastic for every day and for travel and is very lightweight

Oh I love that coach one in Oxblood! I compromised on a cheap one recently and really regretted it. Esther Coren had a nice John Lewis brand on one her instagram recently which looked lovely, and Tk Maxx is always worth look too?

explodingkitten · 26/10/2018 07:40

I didn't read cross when I read the title the first time. Freaked me out.

TheOrigBrave · 26/10/2018 07:52

I just got a lovely one from White Stuff

Bonkersblond · 26/10/2018 07:54

Mulberry Antony is a classic and comes in 2 sizes, love mine.

Worieddd · 26/10/2018 08:05

Have a look at Fossil

Another vote here for Kipling gabbie, and Kipling in general. I’ve got two and I love them. They are biggish, and I can fit everything in them. Kipling do smaller ones too if they’d what you want.

(They are nylon but still look smart to me, and they are machine washable and come out looking like new. I’ve had one in daily use for a year and it still looks perfect despite the abuse I give it).

Knowivedonewrong · 26/10/2018 11:34

Groupon has a nice leather handbag at £16. Lots of different colours too.

Fstar · 26/10/2018 11:59

Im quite tall so need one that fits, fossil and radley are my faves. Also mantaray at debenhams are good quality for the money

I got this from Oliver Bonas in the sale recently - lovely soft good quality leather & not up big not too small

I also like the look of this one though it’s more structured. Doubt I’ll ever be able to afford/justify the APC Moon Bag so this might be a compromise.

@Bonkersblond - I always lust after the Mulberry Anthony but am always torn regarding both a) which of the two sizes to buy and b) which colour! Which size is yours and are you generally happy with it for toting about everything stuff?

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 26/10/2018 18:51

Coach do nice cross body bags

Bonkersblond · 26/10/2018 19:58

@AQUIVER I took ages to make my mind up on size but went for the smaller one as have a dodgy shoulder issue and don’t want a permanently heavy bag which the larger one would be as would cart everything in it. I have the smaller in chocolate, it fits purse, phone, keys, odd bit of make up and a shopping bag neatly rolled. It was expensive but looking good after couple of years. Haven’t regretted it and as I haven’t bought a bag since I’ve had it the cost has evened out considering the bags I might have bought and got fed up with iyswim! That’s what I told hubby!

Sexnotgender · 26/10/2018 20:00

Acquiver I have the smaller Anthony in oak. Can’t beat the classic colour!

The bigger size would look silly on me as I’m only 5ft 1, the small one is great for the essentials.

XingMing · 26/10/2018 20:07

I bought a real cheapie last winter (£19) and nearly bought the same style in the second colours, but didn't. And I've kicked my own arse black and blue for not buying both. It has been the perfect dog walking then shopping bag. The quality is nothing to rave about, but the colours and size, worked.

Aquiver · 26/10/2018 20:39

Thanks both @Bonkersblond and @Sexnotgender - really helpful and so glad you love your lovely bags! Hope I've not derailed OP's thread.
