Always wanted one never had one. Do they really damage your teeth? Would love to get it done before I'm too old/sensible/boring etc. Tia X

I had one and it was a bit crap to be honest... I’d often wake up with a mouthful of blood where I had caught it in my sleep, it was the most painful (by far) of any of the piercings I’ve had done (nose, belly, ears - various places, tongue) and had the longest healing process.

Also now I’ve taken it out, it has left a noticeable hole in my tongue, and although it look quite nice when it was in, I was mostly impressed.

Eating was difficult, snogging took some getting used to and general life was just a bit more annoying. Maybe a little nose piercing instead!?

Oh and both of my front teeth got chipped. Also I have a good friend who ended up with a lisp after her tongue piercing! It still affects her now we are 30

11 years on and I've not had any problems with my tongue piercing. Most of the time I forget i even have it!

I had one and ended up bored of it because you can only use plastic balls on it, if you want to keep your teeth intact, and at the time there wasn't a huge selection. It was fun but I got sick of having to take the balls on and off to clean them everyday. Also people will judge you.

Tongue piercing for since 2007 I think. No problems. Metal tongue bar. Have bit it by accident a few times which is annoying. Also swallowed the balls when they surprisingly come unscrewed was every now and then. To keep it clean I scrub both ends with my toothbrush every day.

I had mine pierced for 8/9 years when it randomly became infected and my tongue swole really badly for no apparent reason. Once the swelling went down I took it out and never missed it. It just wasn't worth the infection risk after that

Ive got my lip pierced and nose twice. Loved the tongue while I had it but it did chip at my teeth

I've had mine for 9 years never had an issue. I wear plastic balls though don't know if that makes a difference x

I have read that plastic balls can stop the tooth chipping issue so going to go for it once I have had DC3 (can't at the mo as preggers lol) then I'm gonna go for it!

Plus I'm going to get my nipple pierced once I've had my last breastfeed and belly button once I get my tummy flatish again!

Haven't had a piercing since I was a teenager so excited! Even though I have to wait lol X

Had mine done about 7/8ish years, never had a problem with it I just have a standard surgical steel bar and balls.
Also babies think it's brilliant to try and pull it out haha
