What top with this skirt?

Looks mad in the photo but irl it's lovely, and a really flattering fit. If I had a longer neck I'd wear it with a thin roll neck. I tried it with various plain fitted Ts but the colours are hard to get right (what looks like white is very pale minty-grey, the darkest colour is on the cusp of navy and black) and it didn't really make the most of it.

Ideally I'd love to wear another pattern or detail, like a dot, stripe, applique etc. Something like this might be nice. Not sure about the shape of that but the way the colour of the skirt is picked up in the embroidery is the sort of thing I'm talking about.

I plan to wear with opaque tights and slender tailored ankle boots but other suggestions welcome. It's for my MIL's birthday lunch in a very posh hotel in Dorset.

My immediate thought was black polo. Particularly with what you said you're going to wear it with. I know some people do the whole double pattern clash thing really well but I would always go plain on top. Although the top you've linked could work. I just feel like 'let the skirt do the talking cos it's got a lot to say'

Slash neck black/navy top
V neck long sleeve black/navy top

No necklace, earrings

Have a nice time 🙂🙂

Thanks for that. Yes, I won't need another focal point. :) The thing about a little more pattern is that it can make a busy thing look a little less busy, but I'm not sure I have the time to get it right. I do love that look, but unless you've got Rixo or Marni or whatever doing it for you it can be a lot of work to find just the right thing.
There was a top with a sleeve detail in the same collection but they're gone now. A little colour on a sleeve cuff would be perfect.
