Too short, too old, just no?

Style and beauty experts, I trust your judgement as always. I’ve bought this skirt but I’m wavering on the length. I’m 47, about 5 4, a curvy toned size 10 ( which is apparently a large in Zara 😡🤔). I was thinking thick black tights/ fine knit jumper or a slouchy jersey too/ ankle boots. But am I kidding myself ? I know I need better undies to flatten my tum.

It looks good to me

Ohyesiam · 25/10/2018 21:33

You’ve got a good waist.
I’d say you could go for it.

JosellaPlayton · 25/10/2018 21:35

It looks good! Jumper and ankle boots would work well.

WipsGlitter · 25/10/2018 21:36

It's a no from me. You've a great figure but this makes you look bloated.

Craftycorvid · 25/10/2018 21:38

Looking good! I don’t ‘do’ the word ‘too’ in relation to clothes - especially if you like something. I’d like to ban the phrase ‘age-appropriate’ in relation to what we choose to wear. Smile

MoltonSilver · 25/10/2018 21:53

It's a no from me. It's not flattering.

retainertrainer · 25/10/2018 22:00

You’ve got a fantastic figure but the skirt just isn’t doing it justice. The length looks great it’s just too tight around your stomach (which I know control pants would help with) not mad on the fabric either.

averageisgood · 25/10/2018 22:02

Do you have good boobs? The reason I ask, is that you don't have a large tummy, but often boobs and shoulders will balance out a bit of dodge. You have a good waist, maybe a pair of suck you in pants or tights, just to smooth every thing out.

MoorMummy · 25/10/2018 22:03

Thanks all, I think I might send it back, I’m usually pretty yes or no about clothes and this was very much in the middle.

I might try it on again tomorrow. To be honest I’ve usually a pretty flat tum, I’ve travelled from the NW to London and back today, so diet and hydration hasn’t been the best. Average, yes my boobs and shoulders are pretty good as I train at the gym most days. But as I said , I’m not 100 per cent on it anyway, so it’s no loss. It’s not like I haven’t other things to wear ( understatement 😱) Really appreciate the responses.

Not keen op.

It looks a bit crumpled and raggy.

Grace32 · 26/10/2018 04:33

(Yes! What is up with Zara sizing?!)

Styled right I think it could definitely work

Sashkin · 26/10/2018 05:11

It’s the horizontal creasing that makes it unflattering. It gives the optical illusion of tightness, like you are bursting out of it, when it isn’t tight at all.

You have a great figure, that skirt does you no favours whatsoever.

brodiee · 26/10/2018 05:14

Looks lovely!

Sashkin · 26/10/2018 05:14

It’s not the length, that length and style in a smoother heavier fabric would look amazing on you. Tweed, wool, something like that would look great.

florenceheadache · 26/10/2018 05:28

noooooooo a solid solid no.
horizontal wrinkled mess and the ruffled edge, best suited for a server in a Bavarian themed pub

Fatted · 26/10/2018 05:41

The length is fine. Like OP have said in a different fabric, it would look great. But I don't like the fabric, too crinkly looking.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 26/10/2018 05:46

Nooo. Not nice at all. Looks too small and the material is weird.

Pinkprincess1978 · 26/10/2018 07:08

Personally I don't think it's a flattering skirt shape - I don't think many people could look good in it.

SleepingInYourFlowerbed · 26/10/2018 07:13

Sorry OP, I don't like it. It looks like an 80s waitress would wear it

BIWI · 26/10/2018 07:18

What on earth does your age have to do with this?

verite · 26/10/2018 08:15

I don’t think it’s too short or that it’s too young for you. I’m afraid I just don’t think it’s very nice. It looks very old fashioned and I don’t like the material.

OrdinarySnowflake · 26/10/2018 08:25

It's not too short or too young, but the cut isn't flattering, in that photo you look a lot bigger than a 10, so it's creating an optical illusion that you are bigger than you are with that crumpled front.

There will be other black mini skirts that sit better on your frame for a similar price, and you already don't feel happy in it. Send it back and buy something that makes you feel stunning when you put it on.

BrightLightsAndSound · 26/10/2018 08:58

It looks a size too small

expatmigrant · 26/10/2018 09:08

Looks too small and it is not very flattering. age nothing to do with it.
