Anyone do their own gel nails?

If so, can you recommend a lamp and good brand of nail varnishes?

I am fed up of shonky lines or paying £30 a time!

I do my own. I use a Mylee UV lamp (from amazon) and I tend to use shellac polishes, though I've also used sensationail which are also good.

I do  I use the Bluesky nail polishes (£6.50 from most eBay sellers - never had a bad one) and my lamp was on a GroupOn offer - they normally have them on around this time of year 💅

And do you recommend LED over UV?

Do you need specific led vs uv nail polishes? What is the difference between gel and shellac?

LED is quicker. You need to go with wattage really. Just check reviews. There's no difference with the gel polish for either.

Shellac is just a brand name, but just a gel like any other.

Go for it. I do think that my nails look better when I get them done professionally so still do that sometimes, but they're not £25 a pop better...!
