Let me see if I've figured out how to post a link properly...

I need to find somewhere where I can try before I buy because my hair is so thick and wild that watching videos of someone else doing their hair means nothing to me. I GHD'd my hair to death this morning and its still not straight. Someone said oh buy Cloud Nines and they were no better.

Sometimes John Lewis on Oxford street does hair straightener demos so will look out for them there.

Mumsnet HQ - Please please do a trial of these where you get to keep the product at the end. Obviously as I'm the one suggesting it, you must include me in the trial

If anyone has a lank chin length bob and has tried this I'd love to know.
I do have a BBH which gives oomph and volume but only for about 15 minutes before it all drops.
Looking at the YouTube videos I reckon the Dyson might be the same.

@ICantFindAFreeNickName2 I started the thread, me first!!

I'm really intrigued.
I don't even know how to describe my hair. It's not straight. Not curly. Kinda wavy. But quite frizzy.
When I blow dry my hair, it looks like a lions mane... but it's not thick... if any of that makes sense.
If I want it curly, I have to straighten it first just to tame it, and then get the curlers out.
Which is why I don't curl it often... oh the heat damage 😭

So there are two models. One for limp hair and one for frizzy? What if your hair is baby soft, lacks volume and is very fine??

Mercurial123 · 23/10/2018 16:19

Dyson has it back in stock. I've looked at unbiased reviews on You Tube where it's been purchased and not a freebie. I don't think it's that amazing.

Noddythefirst · 18/11/2018 19:23

Does anyone know if they'll be doing Black Friday deals on this? I tried it out the other day at Boots and it was amazing.

NonaGrey · 18/11/2018 19:28

It’s £450.

Regardless of how good it is I’m never going to be prepared to spend that amount of money on a styling tool.

didireallysaythat · 18/11/2018 19:31

I could buy a car for that money. Not a great car I admit. But I could wind the windows down and dry my hair. Probably wouldn't be as smooth..

HOW MUCH Shock

TheWombat · 18/11/2018 21:50

Nadine Baggott has a very detailed review on YouTube:
She’s not convinced because the curls seem to drop out quickly - I have to say I’d love to try it out on my mane, just to see if it works on my hair type..

Loonoon · 19/11/2018 11:24

I’ve had Big Haird since they first came out but now I have the new Dyson. I bought it direct from their website because they have a 35 day return policy so I could trial it and decide if it was worth the money.

It took a bit of getting used to but now I’ve got to grips with it I find it very quick and easy to dry my thick straight hair in bouncy flicks and waves. The only other time I’ve managed to get that effect was in the 80s when I had a perm and used heated rollers.

It’s very gentle on the hair and leaves it soft and shiny even when I curl it. My only criticism is that the curl drops out very quickly but to be fair that could just be my hair.

The trial period is up now and I’ve kept the dryer. My Parlux and Big Hair have been banished to a cupboard. I am even considering buying the American version of the Dyson as we have a long holiday booked there next year with lots of dressy nights out. I will want to look as nice as I can and the Airwrap really does make my hair look lovely.

Noddythefirst · 19/11/2018 12:38

Will there be any Black Friday deals on this?
Also, with Boots' 35 day return policy, can you try it out in the same way that you can do with Dyson?
