Really need a proper waterproof and would prefer a parka style - is Trespass Clea any good or can anyone recommend an alternative please?

I've had Trespass before , I might have to go and try on that coat , I need a waterproof one . I like the fish tail look on a parka but not the fur round the hood .

IME , Trespass seem to come up a bit small, worth trying a couple of sizes .

Have a look at Protected Species . I love my parka . There was a Mumsnet discount floating around .

Waterproof Parka - anyone got Trespass Clea?

Trespass our a lot of information on their ensure listings about how waterproof their coats are. The Clea is “waterproof to 5000 mm”. This means that if you put the coat under a 5m talk tube of water, the water won’t seep through. The “ gold standard” of waterproofing is 10,000 mm and the law requires 2,000 mm to use the word “waterproof” rather than “water resistant”. So basically, the Clea is in the middle.

I bought a similar Trespass jacket last winter, to keep me warm and dry on the way to work, and have been very impressed with it. I’ve done lots of winter mountain sports in my time, and gave some very pricey gear to go with it, but sometimes you just need not loo lol like you are going UK a mountain. Tresspaas is great for the money. I get the DC’s winter coats from them too.

The fake fur trim is detachable on that jacket, for the PP who said they don’t like fur trims.

Trumpton I bought and tried the Protected Species one when the discount was going but it didn't fit me quite right.

Thanks for the other comments about Trespass jackets, think I'll give it a go, though would like if it was longer!!

I've ordered one ( tried on other Trespass coats to gauge size after looking at their website)

Went for khaki (which is IMO the best colour for parkas) .
The fur will be off before it has it's maiden voyage .

I have winter coats but not waterproof apart from my work coat .
In the last few years I breezed through winter with a very light jacket ( hot flushes) but last winter I was cold .

Bloodynorthernrock · 23/10/2018 17:09

70isalimit totally agree on khaki, it's the only colour I'd consider! I'm a 10-12 so think a 12 is probably safest bet. If you get yours soon do let us know if you like it and if it's cosy?!

It's arrived . I thought "Arse they've sent me a Large childs coat" but ....it fits nicely ( I tried the coats in Trespass to gauge sizes)

I will take the fur off and might take the buttons off the pockets.
Length is good .
It is very lightweight
I tried a parka in Uniqlo (not waterproof but had a removeable lining) but it was really shapeless .
Just need some rain now to test it out.

Mokepon · 25/10/2018 19:32

I was looking at this one recently too.
When you say lightweight @70isalimitnotatarget do you think it isn't very warm?
I have a lovely long duvet type coat but it isn't waterproof so was looking for a cosy alternative.

TheCatWhisperer · 25/10/2018 19:38

I bought a similar trespass one last year and it's great. Lightweight but really warm, windproof and waterproof. They do come up small ime though so order a size up.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/10/2018 20:23

I think it'll be warm enough Mokepon , it's got a quilted lining and as it's waterproof it'll have wind resistance.

What's put me off parkas in the past is the heavy lining (DD has a couple , one has a thick faux sheepskin lining) . I really don;t need a heavy coat , I have my own furnace Grin

Mokepon · 25/10/2018 20:50

Lovely, that'll be in basket then, thank you!

Bloodynorthernrock · 26/10/2018 13:22

Thanks for the feedback! Can you advise further on sizing please? Site I looked at has S M L sizing rather than numbers!

OP posts:
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/10/2018 14:59

L is a 14

I did my measurement ; size and was none the wiser (I would've been bust:L /waist XXL /hips S )

On the video , it looks really long at the back on the model but mine isn't .
The fur is gone , the lining is a very jazzy orange Grin

Bloodynorthernrock · 30/10/2018 22:09

Thanks, enjoy it Grin

I thought the same when I got mine for Christmas! I am a medium at best but my husband accidentally got the large and I’m still thinking of taking it back for the XL!! The only positive is that I am tall and the sleeves are a brilliant length. I do love the coat though…..really well worth it!
