Waterproof trainers ?

Is there such a thing . I am outside in all weathers working with young people and often need to chase after them and need very comfortable foot ware . Last winter I endured cold wet feet but don’t fancy another year .

I tried in Sketchers and the SA looked at me like I bonkers!

Can you help me find something suitable ?

Try Go Outdoors-plenty of waterproof 'trainer style' walking shoes.

You can get goretex waterproof trail running shoes

FrangipaniBlue · 20/10/2018 07:13

Try trainers designed for fell walking/running, makes like Solomon, Merrell and even Trespass.

They usually have a goretex lining and you can buy spray on nikwax to keep them waterproof over time.

Geox amphibiox shoes are waterproof and they have various trainer styles.

Would Doc Martins shoes or boots do? I find the laces of trainers let water in!

Thank you all for the replies .
It’s bloody obvious to try an outdoor company isn’t it !?!
I think I need a holiday ....

It’s great to have some brand recommendations too - thanks again.

My son tells me DMs would be too heavy and not flexible enough ?

My kids wear ASICS trainers for cross country running. He gets fell running shoes. He's just got both him and DS a nice pair of black ones. I'll ask him for brand when he wakes up!

Trail runnners with Gortex should do the job. I love mine for wet bootcamps/runs. Hate wet feet!

The problem with some waterproof trainers is that if water does get in (eg over the top, if you step in a puddle) it can't get out again. So instead I wear waterproof socks with breathable shoes. Keeps feet toasty warm and dry. Sealskinz are the best, although apparently Aldi occasionally does some that are good too

I was going to say exactly the same as bauble girl.

SpeckledyHen · 20/10/2018 09:30

Thank you Bauble & Bike .
The perfect solution as I have 3 super -comfortable pairs of trainers that I rotate/ dry out that I’d like to carry on wearing. The socks are just the job 👍. I had no idea such things existed . All sorted 😀
