Microdermabrasion - Any good? Worth it?

A salon down the road from me has just started offering microdermabrasion. I'm tempted but wanted to get MN opinions.

I have quite oily skin and I'm prone to hormonal acne on my chin.

Really like to hear experiences if you would please.

Also, how much does it cost? And does it hurt?

I've tried it once but now I know more about skincare I think these one off thingies don't work as well as a consistent weekly routine of acids, retinol and sunscreen with a slapping of sacylic acid as well. For me now it's more about daily care than one offs.

I had a few goes in my late thirties, doesn't hurt at all. Back then it was about £80 a session. Money wasted tbh.

I just bought a NO7 microdermabrasion scrub for £11 which will probably do the same as I used to love the L'Oréal one which was sadly discontinued.

I tried it, quite a few years ago now. It overstimulated my skin and gave me a horrendous breakout. Would not recommend.

Also what TipseyTorvey said - I think a regular, gentle routine is best, particularly if you have reactive skin.

I tried the no 7 scrub this morning, it £11 but I had a £5 coupon, £6 well spent, my skin is very smooth.

A salon near me is offering Crystal Clear facials, I've got dry and quite lined skin and wondered if it would help.

I've had them quite few times, the thing is you need to do the whole cycle first and then a regular treatment. It worked magic for me, everyone was complimenting me on how good my skin was.
I'm too lazy for regular routine.

The number 7 scrub is lovely, well worth the money. It’s one of those products where you find yourself stroking your face later in the day going ‘oohhh.......’

I had a glycolic peel and later microdermabrasion done at a SKN clinic many years ago. Both were a waste of time and money.

I have had far better results using Dermalogica Daily Microexfoliant. Get a tester if you can as its not cheap, but I swear by it. I buy it less than once a year and it lasts me over a year as I only use it during hormonal break outs.
