Did you ever buy a fantasy fashion item which doesn't fit in with your lifestyle? (Having a Cinderella moment :-))

I am positively salivating over a pair of boots and because my birthday is at this end of the year I feel justified in ordering them online.

They do not fit in with my lifestyle at all. I am a socially quiet SAHM with an ASD DC so I very very rarely get out at night (maybe 6 or 7 nights a year). These boots are high, brightly coloured, glamorous and fabulous. I feel like none of these things.

So if I buy these beauties will I wear them while changing nappies, cleaning up dog shite, emptying the bins (you get it, it's all glamour here) Grin I can picture myself wearing them while watching Strictly and staring at them while grinning inanely.

Did you ever buy a tulle skirt, silly shoes, a feather boa or anything that has no practicality but is beautiful?

I realised that my "fuck it it's fabulous/bright/shiny/fluffy/impractical/expensive and I want it" purchased are heavily influenced by hormones. I really shouldn't buy anything other than food in the week before my period.

Yes, often. I have a fondness for gold lamé. But if you love it, you will find occasions to wear it (as I have done for my lamé gowns!)

I remember a long gold lamé party dress which Asda George did as a special edition about 20 years ago. I've always regretted missing out on it - dithered for too long then they'd sold out! It would have been a steal!

@whoami24601 nnnnoooooo Sad I made the mistake of googling those boots and they are gorgeous and I want them. Damn you Grin

whoami24601 · 22/10/2018 17:25

You must buy them! They do them in lots of different colours/ patterns too so you can collect all of them!

Well, the shiny red boots are winging their way to an unworthy new owner. I got 25% off them so thought feck it anyway!

I will wear them with pride while doing the housework or twirling around the bedroom.

I know I will definitely shut my eyes and click my heels together three times while saying "There's no place like home!"

I got my winter clothes out of the loft last week. My kids commented on the high number of silver sequined/sparkly dresses/skirts/tops.

I'm lucky if I go to one event* each winter where I could wear them.

(* Christmas party at a friends house)

Still I don't think you can have too many sparkly dresses.

(OP I actually bought a pair of white boots similar to those as this year. I did see sense and send them back...)
